Maybe there are certain types of players who are good against others. I know I struggle to play you and win, whereas I find most other players fairly beatable. Yet, some of those players like tecwrtr are the ones beating you...
Yeah, I think I've won one game out of the 5 or more that Camzy and I have played. She (based on avatar) really has my number, and I know that so I try out different things which just make it worse.

Btw, congrats, Camzy.

This is exactly what I was saying a couple of pages ago: A beats B regularly; B has no problems with C; yet C dominates A. WTF?

On the surface, it makes no sense. But it doesn't take an advanced degree to spot the two main factors:

1. Play styles. We all tend to use default strategies or go after "favorite" cards, even if we try not to. It's human nature. And we'll stick with things that worked in the past, even if they might not be working so well currently (especially with the expansion).

2. Luck. Ascension has more of it than many of us would be comfortable admitting. Good players, of course, will do everything they can to minimize the luck factor, but any game that relies on a shuffling mechanic and a blind draw into the center row is going to have a certain luck factor.

There's players posting here who I beat with great regularity, and there's others with whom I have a sub-.500 record, but I'm not quite ready to say I'm definitely better than the first group and/or definitely worse than the second. I'd probably win more if I stopped grabbing my favorite cards 90 percent of the time, but I'd probably also win more if I wore a shirt woven with four-leaf clovers.

Actually if you go to game centre, you'll see that you're the only girl here Jennifer haha. Camzeee, griffin611, kitkeat and myself are Chinese.

Oh camzeee, gonna take a break now, it is very stressful playing against you!

I don't know about that. It's interesting though, because I have a dreadful record against celeric. Something like 5-20. But our games are very different. Some are construct heavy, some are banish rushes, some are just plain chaos.

Haha as if being Chinese means you can't be a girl xD

This is PRECISELY my my problem hahahaha. I rarely venture out into the open seas with newer strategies in Online play. I do all the time in AI play, but in Online I think "Well this will work, it has before!" and I end up getting smashed 15 Honour+. hahahaaha

AI don't play like humans. I can beat the AI 9/10 times. It's boring.

Yeah, the AI is fine for what it is (and it helps with learning the game), but online play is where you get better. I was beating the orange-level AI by my fifth or sixth game and generally pounding on it by about my 15th game. And I'd guess that every competent player here could say the same.
