Oh, yeah, sometimes I don't get notifications either. Or more correctly, I'll get them on one device, but not the other, and which gets them seems to change. Perhaps with which I used last, but I'm not sure about that.

Also, any word on when we get Storm of Souls.

Unfortunately, Apple's push notification system doesn't guaranteed delivery. We can't make a direct connection to your device. We have to send the message to Apple and they take care of delivery. But if a connection can't be made right then (if your device is out of wifi and 3G range, for example), the message is lost. We get some feedback from the system if our data isn't formatted correctly when we send it to Apple, but we can't get any indication from their server if the notification was successfully delivered to your device. We spend some time looking at this every time we see a report that someone isn't receiving notifications, but when everything looks correct on our end, and the Apple documentation explicitly calls out that the delivery service isn't guaranteed, we can't make any promises that this is something that's within our control to correct.
I receive notification sometimes.. I'd say 1 in 30 moves or even more. And in most times I don't get one single notification in few games. So it's like never. I don't have problems with other apps. Most times I play over wifi and when I'm away from wifi I'm on 3G. Also, I got notification just once when iphone was in standby (and never after that) and few times when I was playing another game.

Just to be clear.. I am not whining or anything because I love this game and got used to it the way it is but it's a bit anoying when I forfeit 30min game because I didn't get notification at all.

Yes, I still experience once 2 days ago but I cannot remember if it were related to the banishment of constructs.

Just had an epic game against Camzy. We tied 91-91, with Camzy winning by virtue of going last. I went construct heavy, but Camzy pulled Avatar of the Fallen late in the game and then used Avatar to defeat Samael. Then on the final turn, Camzy used Sadranis to pull Avatar out of the void yet again. First time I had ever seen anyone pull that off.

Great comeback win, Camzy! And this is yet another reason why Ascension, while it may be my favorite Iphone app, is dying for an in-game chat function. The only way for me to congratulate Camzy was to post a message on these forums.

Anyone has any idea how to make good use of the "Black Hole". It seems nice to get rid of those pointless stuff in the early stage, but afterwards, it seems nothing but a 4-point card...

I tried Magic when i was a kid... but i didn't understand it and never had anyone to play with =/

So the term "Deck Builder" sounds like a strange word in a language I still haven't heard of xD

Might anyone help me out with that? Also... $5? damn ._. highest I've payed is 3 and I don't really see myself paying more for anything else on iTunes....

Dre, I have never been attracted by cards games. I tried a few and dropped them fast (both real world and virtual). When I took ascension ... well, I got addicted (even too much). After it, I tried again other cards games ... still I do not like them. Ascension is the only one that attracts me.

It is a card and board game somehow at the same time. Every game is different, often games are open till the last rounds (maybe not at first). It involves strategy and lot lot of tactics. And luck plays quite a role too. Games can be very fast and brutal, or very slow and brainy (depending on the opponent and how the cards come).

The only game that I only removed once from my ipad because I was playing it too much! The only one I play daily. Well, Carcassonne too.

Hi all,

I have an honest question here, so bear with me - and feel free to give me pointers/links

I've never played many hardcore card games in the past. I bought Ascension a couple of months ago, but I only played it single player - and not much, to be honest, since I didn't quite get the grasp of the strategy. For me it was very much a game of reaction, and trying to see how things were going. :|

I've always been curious about playing it multiplayer, but I fear that these long breaks between moves will even make things worse for me, because it will all boil down to a game of "what's the best move I can make in this particular scenario", but losing the notion of the entire game, what cards have already been played/are left to play, and what strategy am I going for.

Is this a real issue? Or is it something I shouldn't worry about?

For instance - and please bear with the comparison, even if it seems unsuited or wrong - I recently had the chance to play Words With Friends in the same asynchronous multiplayer mode, and I found out that it was indeed, for me, a game where I couldn't care less about what had been played before, and there was little to no strategy. It was always down to the board at hand, the tiles I had to play at that time, and the scores we had. I feel that's not the case with Ascension, though.

Tips, suggestions, and comments are very welcome

Cheers,

Paulo

Yeah, I feel the same. Can't see the depth in the game. It feels a little shallow, more based on luck than anything else. I hope I'm missing something.
