There isn't a time when it isn't advantageous to draw a card, the key is WHEN.

Say you have a Void Initiate, and nothing in your deck. If you draw a card from the All Seeing Eye, your discard pile empties, and you can't banish with the initiate.

Then there's the classic draw card scenario. You put a card in your deck from Cetra or Druids, and by witholding from playing the ASE, you can get that card immediately. I've done it really effectively with Cetra + Master Dhartha.

That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

I'm still afraid to play you.

That was close indeed.
S far I am not really liking tha 4way game while 3way is what I used to play with the AI. Also lately we all went on a 4way spree and that has created a confusion in my head for every other game ... So finally now I am having some time off them (since games are not moving ) and I remember how to play duels (sorry griffing )

Plus sometimes an extra card makes no sense as there is nothing worth or possible to do.

I think I may have noticed something for the notification syste
. A lot have been reporting that it doesn't really work in a timely manner.
At the moment I'm only able to use wifi due to no reception and I haven't been getting any notifications (yes I've got it switched on).
When a notifitcation app like watsapp works just fine and gives me notifications as soon as I come back into reception. (intact whatsapp is so good i use it as a signal that ive just picked up reception again!). So maybe the notification system of this game needs a little tweaking.

Great comeback, Dukester. How many honor points did you earn on that final turn?

The multiplayer absolutely, positively has to be updated to include an in-game chat function. This is my favorite iOS game and I can't stop playing, but the lack of chat really detracts from the game experience.

Lost a few games over the weekend -- as low as 1 up to 30. I think some where in the mid game, I lost my sense of direction...

Good games earlier. You've won 3 of 4 but if you notice, the person who won has always gone first It's a fairly significant advantage early game.

Nor do I see any evidence to support it. In fact, I just zipped through a random sample of 20 recent two-player games I've won; according to my notes, 11 of the 20 were won as the second player.

I might be able to accept that in some rare circumstances, going first would yield a very, very, very slight advantage. For instance, opening with a 4-1 split, taking the only rune-based card available and leaving the opponent with a center row of six monsters. But not only is such a situation very rare, it's also not impossible to overcome. Both players are going to have 14, 15 or more turns coming up and dozens of new cards are going to be revealed. That's far more significant than who gets to go first.
I agree, It's all luck based so any advantage is perceived.

On one game with cprloe my starting hand was all Apprentices. It allowed me to get ascetic (draw two cards) on my first turn. Gaining that card advantage so early was pure luck but the advantage wasn't on me starting first.

Actually for 2 and 3 games I win or loose independently from when I start.
On 4 people games, I always play bad when I am the first!

And in general I notice I often loose if I am playing at the same time 2 way a 4 way games (like yesterday and now). And I always loose if I am playing this game and ghost stories at the same time.
I guess I found a limitation of my brain.
