What is the most unexpected thing you've learned while making iPhone games?

Mine is that I thought all you have to do is make a good game to succeed in the app store. I didn't fully appreciate just how important marketing is!

What are some of yours?

Yeah, I learned this the hard way too.
Another thing I learned was that interaction with target gamers is crucial and highly rewarding. This interaction is as much fun as the development process itself.

I'm wondering how you avoid ripoff when you need beta testing.

Things change, roll with punches. But I know, all is gonna come together.

I was just going to ask the same, and am super curious. What do you mean by getting ripped off by the beta testers?

from my point of view, i don't think that will be a common problem as usually, it would be very troublesome to go copy it

I may be very naive, but my feeling is that if you make something worth paying for, and the price is reasonable, people WILL pay for it. I know I do. Usually, people who steal/pirate are not the people who would pay for it anyway.
