Default Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars (Ubisoft)

From Slide to Play:

Quote:
Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars

This top-down, turn-based strategy game should be familiar to Nintendo 3DS owners. Shadow Wars was an early 3DS title, and the iOS version will remain mostly unchanged. The action is still mainly on the top part of the screen, replacing the top 3DS screen, with a bird's eye view of the grid-based battlefield. You can tap on your elite soldiers, move them, and fire, until all of your soldiers are spent. Then you have to wait and let the enemies take their positions. It may not be the ultra-realistic Ghost Recon game we were expecting, but we'll be happy to see a fairly new 3DS game on the App Store for a fraction of the price.
The 3DS version was arguably the best launch title on the platform, but that's not saying much. Personally I found it to be a decent game with truly wretched AI. But it's a good fit for the platform. It doesn't hurt that it comes with a ton of content.

Ubisoft announced several over iOS titles, but this is the only one that caught my attention.

Wow, this is awesome news. Definitely will be looking forward to it. Passed on the 3DS version, but it should be a great deal on the iOS. Lol, I'm pretty sure SSFIV is universally agreed on to have been the best launch title though without contest. But yes, the other games look pretty dull.

Kotaku liked Ghost Recon better. As someone who has only a passing interest in fighting games, I agree. Keep in mind that SF4 was also, technically, a port; Ghost Recon is a 3DS original.

I'm kind of mad. I purchased this for the 3DS.

So is this kinda like a Final Fantasy Tactics-style gameplay? Maybe Tactical Soldier?

Sort of. It's really closer to Xcom and Jagged Alliance on the PC (or Hunters and Tactical Soldier: Undead Rising on iOS). The focus is less on role-playing and more on tactical action.

Almost bought this game on 3DS. Glad I've seen this thread first. Thanks.
