*** Updated ***

New Star Soccer is due out at the beginning of March for the iPhone, touch and iPad! For anyone familiar with the game it will be similar to NSS5 but with a different match engine.

For anyone who is not familiar with it, check out http://www.newstarsoccer.com/ for the PC version which is quality. You are a footballer for a team of you choice where you have to break into the first team and try and win a contract; you then go through a career where you can be transferred, play for you country and become captain of the team. You actually play the games but you only control your player - you are massively involved in the game so there is no risk of being bored. The graphics are similar to sensi soccer but much better and there are several leagues and nations.

You can also do training which will involve you dribbling around cones, tackling, free kicks, shooting, etc. You also control the career off the field where you try to keep everyone happy, get sponsors, buy things, gamble, buy your own racehorse, date and loads of other features.

Highly recommend the pc version and since getting the newsletter to say it will be on iOS, android and wp7 I am really excited!

Hi guys. I'm the developer of New Star Soccer and I'm glad you are excited about it. I just wanted to give you a little more info because the game is not quite as detailed as the PC/Mac version and I wouldn't want you to be disappointed. The biggest change is the match engine which is a combination of text and action. Basically you will get several opportunities to pass or score using a touch system where you aim your kick and then tap the ball to put spin on it. I wanted to steer clear of using an on-screen control stick because I feel that football games need to find a better method for working on touch devices. This is my first attempt so this is very much a prototype control system, and while it's not as action packed as the PC/Mac version it's still great fun. I also have lots of exciting ideas for future updates if the game is a success, and I look forward to feedback from you guys. Off the pitch the game is very much intact. There are relationships, a shop, training mini-games, a casino and so on, so don't have any worries about that! Unfortunately there are no international or Champions League/Europa competitions at the moment but that is also something I want to include in the future.

As long as there are no issues submitting the game to the app-stores I'm aiming for the 12th of March, priced somewhere around the 2 mark. Best of all there will be a browser based version that you can play for free so you can even try before you buy.

Holy crap I don't even like football but this sounds really cool. I'll be picking this up when it hits the app store. :-)

How much less detailed is it going to be on the iPhone version? I'd still like to be able to do most of the things shown on your site for the pc trailer. I looked at it and it seems we can curve the ball just after we've kicked it? Can we do this on the iOS version?

Also, how are stats determined and increased etc.?

thanks.

More info soon, I just need to get it submitted to the app stores today. The whole kicking system is based on aim, power and spin. So yes, you can curve the kicks, but the match engine is much more static than that of NSS5 on PC (I will be developing it further in the future though). You build your skills through training challenges which are kicking/running mini-games. There are 5: Pace, Power, Technique, Vision and Free-Kicks.

Awesome, cant wait for this one to come out. Jump back here and post a reply when you have submitted it.

Also, can you head the ball in the game, or are all passes across the ground?
