Difficult question, worth searching Google as most iOS websites (Including Toucharcade) often post their top 50 for the year 2011 or 2012 etc.

Looking at your spam, i mean link it seems like you know a lot about apps and paid ones anyway

When you like exciting and challenging action, highest speed feeling, the best super cars, most gorgeous tracks, crisp and smooth graphics (iPad 3rd gen. pending for an update), slow motion studies of crashes, adrenaline mode, ravishing motor sounds, top level professional voice acting, perfect balanced and rock solid gameplay, top-notch background music and an awesome (exclusive iOS!) local multiplayer option (w or w/o bluetooth) where you can engage the very ultimate bit of pure iOS power—there is no other choice than the excellent 3D arcade racer…

…by the world's largest developer and publisher of video games for mobile devices.

Unbeaten since December 2010! I am not the dev, just saying. (I have tested and played more than 5,000 iOS games on all devices since iPhone 3G, my iTunes apps archive is 300+ GB.)

(Graphics have been improved even more in the meantime since that gameplay video.)

For some friends and me personally the best video game of all times, all consumer software and hardware platforms! We played it for weeks and months, literally. It's a solid and trippy ground flight, nothing more and nothing less. And it's a STEAL for a buck.

"Hope you like to get high", the lady asks on introducing the snowy Chamonix track.

Kotaku keeps a "best of" list for pretty much every current platform, including iOS. The funny thing is: I disagree with pretty much every choice in their list -- I mean, it's not even close. "Best of" lists are pretty much guaranteed to reflect the preferences and prejudices of the person putting the list together rather than the inherent qualities of particular titles. As such, they are generally useless.

What might be useful, however, is a list of high quality titles broken up by category. Some categories (like puzzlers) may have dozens of entries, while others (fighting games, for example) may be rather sparse. I would definitely stay away from labeling anything "Best of."
