Team Quarry has challenged Team Tracker to the ultimate tracking competition across 50 levels, from lush lawns, through grassland, across rivers, through snow, up mountains and beneath the sweltering heat of the desert sun to prove once and for all, which team is best.

With a parting taunt of "Catch us if you can!", Team Quarry has already made a flying start with Chicko, their first member, already on his way. Team Tracker has elected Foxy to take the first leg of the challenge and track down Chicko before time runs out and the trail goes cold.

Guide each member of Team Tracker, each specialised in tracking two members of Team Quarry, by following the foot-, paw-, or hoof-prints that make up Team Quarry's trail. Beware, though, as Team Quarry isn't going to make things easy and so may have a few tricks up its proverbial sleeves.

Be prepared for doubled-back trails, trails disappearing down holes, multiple trails, trails that cross water, hedges that need to be hacked, boulders that need to be moved, switches that need to be flipped, snow that will slow you down and sand dunes that need to be negotiated... these are just some of the obstacles you'll be confronted with... plus in 'hard' mode, you'll have less time to do it in, so shortcuts will also need to be found.

Oh, and if you think you're a master tracker, why not rub in your ultimate victory by finding all 50 golden eggs hidden throughout the levels and wave them under Team Quarry's nose.

Features:

* 50 levels
* 5 different terrains, including lawns, grassland, snow, mountains and desert
* 10 different Team Quarry animals, each with its own unique tracks
* 5 different Team Tracker animals, each specialised in tracking two members of Team Quarry
* 50 golden eggs to find and carry to the end of the levels in the fastest time possible
* Choice of background sound track, including 3 fast paced tunes; ambient sounds, such as birds singing, wind blowing; or listen to your own music
* High score table detailing best score, stars achieved and egg discovered for each level
* Lots of achievements leading to graded titles awarded for mastering various aspects of the game
* Game Center support
* Twitter console for tweeting your scores
* 3 difficulty modes: 'easy' for young children; 'medium' for casual gamers; and 'hard' for players wanting a real challenge
* Graded rewards, from 1 star for finishing a level in 'easy' mode, to 3 stars for finishing it in 'hard' mode
* 3 control methods, including finger point, d-pad, and accelerometer tilt

So, have you got what it takes to guide Team Tracker to an emphatic victory and earn the most prestigious title of 'Maestro Grandslammer'?

Hi, thanks for making this thread about my game.

There is a problem with the App Store in which Animal Trackers is not showing up in any lists and as a result, hardly anyone knows it exists!

However, you can find it if you search for it by name.

I've contacted Apple about it, but they have yet to fix it.

I'd just like to point out that Sanuku has been rather naughty by copying my pre-release trailer and re-uploading it as the so called 'Official Animal Trackers Launch Trailer'.

It's nice that he has taken an interest in my game, but misrepresenting it like that can mislead viewers about both the quality of the final game and that the video was sanctioned.

I would therefore be grateful if you would please replace Sanuku's trailer with this one. Thanks.

The REAL official trailer:

Sanuku, I think you just convinced yourself that it was a dead end under that tree.

If you look at your gameplay video, on a number of occasions you can see the tracks leading off from the bottom right of the tree canopy, and at one point you're part way through and Foxy's tail is sticking out, but then you turned around and went back the way you came. You just need to continue through.

Here's a walkthrough for level 2:

And Sanuku...

PLEASE... rename your 'Official Animal Trackers Launch Trailer' video to 'Animal Trackers Pre-release Trailer' as it is misleading to viewers and may lead them to conclude that the game is of lesser quality than it is.

I've spent two and a half YEARS making this game and it would be nice if it could be presented as it was intended to be.

Thanks

Dave, I've been following this game ever since you mentioned it was going to be released in the "Game Releases 2012" thread, but I've been hesitating because I really don't know what to expect. Is there any way you could upload another walkthrough, for say... a more complex level farther in the game?

Yes, sure.

I'll record and post a video a bit later, but in the meantime, here are a few details about the game.

The time limit for each level tends to increase as the game progresses, so there's usually more to do the further you get.

The 50 levels are split into 5 sets of 10, one set for each tracking animal (Foxy, Pumi, Bearny, Coyli, Sidey).

Each tracking animal tracks 2 quarry animals, 5 levels for each quarry.

Every 10 levels sees a change of terrain, but it's offset by 5, so levels 1-5 is lawns, 6-15 is grassland and rivers, …

Each quarry animal has its own evasion specialty, such as the rabbit disappearing down one hole and coming up another a little further away, the bighorn sheep being able to jump over crevasses which the tracker (Bearny) has to find his way around, the squirrel on occasion jumping from tree to tree without touching the ground and sometimes using that to get over hedges...

In certain levels, some trackers will need to interact with the scenery, such as hacking hedges to make a path through them, moving boulders into crevasses to make a bridge to get across, flicking switches to open gates…

Some of the later levels may require some forethought if you want to get the best time, such as pre-emptively moving a boulder into a chasm so that by the time you need to cross it from the other side, the boulder is already there to be used as a bridge...

Hopefully this will give some indication of the variety and puzzling that's contained within the game.

I feel a little dumb, I have read what I can and watched the video but I am unclear what the game is. I like the look but some impressions of gameplay would be great.

It's basically a timed puzzle game where for each level, you control a tracker animal and have to (ideally) find the quickest route to the quarry animal by following its tracks. The faster you find it, the more points you are awarded.

However, just as trails in the real world don't last forever, you only have a finite amount of time to find the quarry before the tracks begin to fade and the trail is lost, allowing the quarry animal to escape.

There are three difficulty modes, from 'easy' allowing the most time, to 'hard' allowing the least (to the point where you'll need to find shortcuts in order to finish the level in time, but doing so will reward you with the most points and also three stars).

(Breaking news: the next update will add 'explore mode' during which the timer is deactivated and you can wander around at your leisure, but finishing the level will only award one star and a flat 100 points.)

The tracks start out invisible and fade into view as you detect them by moving close enough that they are within 'smelling' range (which is basically the distance from the tracking animal to just beyond the edge of the screen).

Also, you have to find the tracks sequentially (that is, the trail must be unbroken... you can't just run straight to the end and hope to find the quarry there, as it won't be).

As mentioned in my previous post, the quarry animals have certain skills which enable them to cross seemingly impassable regions of the play area with ease, but which require the tracker animal to find a way around (or through).

Reading this back, all these details may make it sound a little complicated, but it's not really. Basically, at the start of each level, you see the tracks on the screen and you follow them as quickly as you can until you reach the quarry.

Well, it's late here now (gone 1am), so I'll sign off now and create another gameplay video tomorrow.
