A successful battle requires quick decisive action as you decide which monster cards will overpower the opponents. I would love to see the IAP being either:

A) Purchase packs of random cards (ex, Shadow Era)
B) Purchase whole pre-made decks, or unlocks (ex, MtG: Duels of the Planeswalker)

Wow it does look good but yeah, that IAP scares me on card games. I wonder if the single player is any good. I rarely touch multiplayer on my ipod

Yeah. Urban Rivals did it the best, by allowing players to: 1) Earn clintz through gameplay, to purchase particular cards on the player market (and allowing other players to make clintz in turn through their sales). 2) Earn credits (through tournaments, ladders and rankings, as well as silly free app deals) to purchase booster packs. 3) Purchase credits for real-world money, in order to purchase booster packs.

This meant that unless a player spent enough money to buy enough boosters to acquire all cards within a particular faction, she could never directly purchase a particular card just by spending real dollars. Furthermore, anyone could progress infinitely without ever spending a real dime, and some of the top players could boast (a claim verified by admins) of having climbed their way to the pinnacle without a single real-world expenditure, and owning every single card in the game.

That's how you do TCGs, freemium-style
