2006 International Gamers Awards - General Strategy; Multi-player Nominee
finally on iPad!

Wouldn't you like to be a cowboy? Especially a rich and famous one? In Hacienda you can become an estanciero - an Argentinian animal breeder and landowner. You will compete against other players in order to become the most respected farmer and landowner in the region. You can succeed by breeding animals, bringing their livestock to markets, and claiming and controlling new land.

Hacienda will entertain both beginners and experienced players. It is a strategic family board game, first created by one of the most famous game designers - Wolfgang Kramer and now brought to iPad by us.

You can play Hacienda by yourself (while playing against the computer) or with your friends (sharing one iPad).

An excellent tutorial will easily introduce all rules and teach you how to play.

The game also has a version designed for convenience of the left-handed players.

The offered features:
a tutorial which teaches game rules and basic strategies
a user interface that truly resembles a physical board game and at the same time exploits the advantages of iPad
a dedicated UI version for the left-handed players
an original game art
two different maps (for novices and experts)
three difficulty levels of the computer player
a local multi-player mode (pass-and-play)

Terrible screen shots!

I've played the boardgame before but I'm not even interested in picking this up if I can't even see a clear picture of the UI.

This coming from someone who buys damn near every decent boardgame on the appstore as soon as they are released :/

I'd never played the game before, but I love Euro games, so I went ahead and got it. I played through the tutorial, and feel like I have a nice grasp of the game. There were a couple of quirks...one time it said to buy a hacienda, but didn't highlight which icon it was. It didn't take a genius to figure out it was the house icon, though. There is also an extensive help section accessible on the home screen and from within the game at any time. The board does seem a bit zoomed out, but I assume that was a deliberate design choice, so that you can always see the entire board at all times. Early impressions are quite positive, but you can wait for the lite version if you aren't sure.

I bought the game too. The tutorial is very good (some minor issues as noted above) but really gives a great grasp of the game. I had never played it before but was fine after the tutorial and game with rules.

The only thing i'm confused about is the scoring. I know how it works, but the first phase the points do not add up all the time.

It seems like there is an extra point given to the players total during phase one sometimes. I have no clue where it's coming from, did I miss it or is this a bug? If anyone knows why, let me know!

This picture the total of phase one is one more for one player

and in this one it gives an additional point to both players.

I quite like the game, easy not complex like some of the euros. Graphics look fine, a little dull but very adequate.

Edit, I think it s scoring right now since I was forgetting about the 1 point for every 10 money, it just wasn't shown on the summary so I was confused!

Does the Mom come with the game
If so, $5.99 is a good deal for her

Looks more like family pics.. I'll wait either for better images, or a demo.. sorry.

Well ... ok ... marketing is not the best ... but the game is really great ...

So far, after two games ... no bugs found (in gameplay) no crashes and good AI (three levels) ...
