Hi all,
Being unable to find a thread for this game, I'm opening it ![]() The original Payback was a GTA1 clone released several years ago for several devices including the iPhone. At the time it was the first GTA-style game available for iPhone. According to the developer's web: "Featuring nine game modes, loads of weapons, dozens of vehicles, and events with everything from massive gang battles to rocket car races to epic tank duels, the variety offered by the game is endless. As well as the fifty career events, you can build your own custom events and play them against AI, your friends or the rest of the world through the game's extensive online multiplayer support. The game is scheduled for a September release on all iOS devices." All the info + screenshots can be found here: http://www.apex-designs.net/payback2.html ![]() ![]()

Somehow missed Payback 1, downloaded the free version after hearing some positive impressions. Couldnt stand the controls with tilt controls for the main control, urrrgh.
Hopefully this will have the option for a traditional controller |

One thing which makes me think they did implement traditional touch controls is the screenshot of the tank: it has twin sticks... |

Yep, Payback was pretty much the first GTA-like on the iOS. While I didn't like the controls either, the game a lot of things right. Can't wait to see how far it's come in the many years (in relation to the AppStore) that have passed.

Hi everyone, I'm the developer of the Payback˛.
Thanks for the kind words above - I'm glad you like what you've seen so far! (BTW, to answer psj3809's question, the game no longer uses tilt controls when on foot or in a tank.) You might also be interested to know that we've posted a behind the scenes report and some new screenshots here: http://www.apex-designs.net/payback2_reports_ios1.html Enjoy! James. |
