Looking for feedback on new (Free) iPhone game

Hey guys,

I recently released a game to the app store called Escape the Swamp. Its a 2-D landscape game where your goal is to bounce your frog across lily pads in order to "Escape the Swamp" while collecting coins and avoiding enemies.

The game is free and you can find it by searching its name in the app store, or here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/escap...3108?ls=1&mt=8.

I also made a small little trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZ2nYZL4QBI

If you were to compare it to a game currently out there, you could compare it to Tiny Wings because both games share similar controls.
I am looking for feedback and suggestions for future updates.
Thanks.

Looking for feedback on (Free) game

Update 1.1 is here!

The primary focus of this update was to focus on the gameplay mechanics/controls. Retina support and a new game mode was also added!

I also made a small trailer for the update: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWElKehbE4k

Downloading now, will return soon with some feedback/impressions.

Edit:

Okay so first impressions are that the game could use some sounds, I mean anything at all would be better than nothing.

Also the controls are a little hard to get a grasp on, idk what exactly it is, but the very first level of the campaign on normal mode is very hard to get the timing down - could the controls not be as responsive as they should?

Yes, I agree that it should have music. A friend of mine is working on a sound track for the game that I hope to include in the next update.

As for the controls, did it feel like you had to press down too hard/long for something to happen? The intention was for the controls to be more of "holding taps" rather than "quick repetitive taps" (i hope that made sense). Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah I guess when you put it that way, it makes sense as to why it felt off - I was trying to play using quick taps rather than holding

Thanks for the feedback! Its helpful to learn how other people play the game. Was there anything else you liked/disliked about the game?

I tried the game but everytime I open it comes up in landscape but then a second later at your logo it rotates back to vertical so everything is cut off.
I tried quitting out of the app, power cycling and deleting and redownloading it but same thing happens.

Also just in case, I am using an Ipod 4th Gen with IOS 5.1.1.

Hello Zenatrul,

This seems to be something a lot of people are reporting when running anything below iOS 6. I know it is not the most convenient of solutions, but the immediate fix would be to upgrade to iOS 6 (since you have a 4th gen iTouch, this shouldn't be a problem). Tomorrow morning I will tackle this problem and post a post back here with a solution. Thank you for reporting this.

Edit: Okay, the good news is that the bug has been fixed. The bad news is that it will require an update. I have submitted an expedited review for it, so hopefully the update will go out within the next 2-3 days.

Edit 2: The latest update (1.1.1) has fixed this issue.
