Default Dog Guardian 2D

I am an Indie Developer and I have developed my first iPhone Game, just submitted it to Apple for Approval. Have you ever had a dog that you wish you could protect from all those pestering insects that are trying to latch on to in the swelting heat outside on summer day. Would you like to get your frustration out, if so you have chosen the right game. You have to protect your dog in different environments from those annoying insects by squishing or smashing with a simple tap of the finger.

Dog Guardian has two Game Modes:
Time Mode-Kill as many insects within 60 seconds
Classic Mode-Unlimited time game gets hard and speed of insects increase the long you play....SO HOW LONG CAN YOU HOLD THEM OFF????????????

In-App Purchase
There are several In-App purchase Items in the game that can enhance the play of the user. The neat thing about the Items is that al them relate to what a dog would use to prevent Insects.

Bug Repellent-Treats as a spray for the Dog
Collar-Prevents insects from reaching the dog for a certain amount of time
Time Clock-Freezes the game for certain amount of time

Please Follow on Twitter @Dog_Guardian
Please leave reviews and comments and what you would like to see added to the Game.

I find it suspicious that the first 5 ratings are all 5 stars, yet nary a written review in sight...

But it's Free, so why not?

Default Game Impressions

Terrible. Just terrible.

It's apparent that absolutely no thought went into this game, at all. The whole game is a screen of a static dog in a stationary position in front of a static doghouse and a static tree, with bugs crawling in from every side of the screen.

All right, so bees will fly in the air towards your dog. See, that makes sense! What doesn't make sense is the odd "insects" with 8 legs will crawl in the sky too. Seriously?

I can count the sound assets of the game on one hand: main menu nature sounds, pops when you tap a bug, and the incessant whining of the dog when you let a bug get to him.

The graphics, at first glance, are colorful and cute. But once you start playing, the game feels more like you're swatting bugs off of a dog photo than keeping bugs away from a real dog. Also, the image that shows up when you lose, the dog in the app's icon, is just dumb. What's dumb about it? The fact that you reused the graphical asset from the game for the icon, or vice-versa. That is probably the norm for a lot of games out there, but the ineptitude at developing a competent app is much more apparent when you copy and paste a graphical asset from one place to another.

Either the developer of this game was extremely lazy, or they legitimately don't know how to create an engaging and noteworthy app. For the latter, I feel sorry for them.

This laziness is apparent in the IAPs. The "water pal" can be bought. Water pal? Are you sure you didn't mean water pail? The picture shows a bucket of water, but for all I know, that bucket to transform, Autobots-style, into a shadow of your dog that helps swat away the invading bugs! Likely not the case, though.

I didn't care to play past the first round. The game itself is lifeless, and the gameplay takes a very special kind of vegetative state to enjoy all that much. No offense if you do enjoy this type of game, but I honestly can't foresee anyone enjoying it past the first 10 seconds. If you do, good on you. But I have a very strong feeling that most people, even those Angry Birds players that dominate the marketplace consumerbase, will scoff at the overt simplicity this "game" has to offer.

To the game's credit, I will give it the benefit of the doubt on things I didn't test out:

-There are multiple levels. Whether they change the types of bugs that come at you remains to be seen. If they're anything like the first level, though, I surmise that they're not worth unlocking at all.

-Maybe the IAPs have really flashy effects that demonstrate the ingenuity of the developer as far as developing graphical assets goes!

....and honestly that's all the benefit I can give to the doubt.

Thank god you're not selling this game for any more than Free. It is probably the biggest waste of time I've had the displeasure of experiencing on my iPhone 4S, in the entire time I've had it. Thanks to this abysmal attempt at an addicting game, my 4S is cowering next to my iPad, trying to recoup his emotional damage.

Usually I suggest improvements that can be made with games, but in this case I can't do it. You have a game that lacks any amount of fun, challenge, satisfaction, enjoyment, and reward. My best advice is to start at ground zero, rebuild everything, and create a new app that requires higher than an IQ of 3 to fully enjoy.

Avoid like the plague.
