App description: A challenging fantasy themed strategy gaming experience. Rich game play featuring hundreds of unique items and abilities. Chose your tribe and let the game begin!

Ages ago, the Creators harnessed the Seven Powers (Air, Earth, Fire, Nature, Water, Chaos, and Light) to fashion magical worlds alive with tribes of magnificent creatures. They bound each tribe to one of Seven Powers to give them fantastic abilities. Proud of their creations, they held the Great Game to determine who had made the greatest tribe.

In SpellBroken, you take control of one of the Creator tribes and face-off against another in the Great Game. Using your tribe's land, creature, structure, and spell items, you must create a new world and overcome your opponent.

Game Features
Includes four tribes: The Woodfolk (Nature), The Fire Spawn (Fire), The Cave Dwellers (Earth), and The Order (Light)
Over seventy distinct items
Hundreds of item abilities including moves, attacks, magic effects, upgrades, and resource generators
Abilities are expressed in plain language; possible behaviors are virtually limitless
Supports local 2-player and player versus CPU modes
Includes detailed tutorial and rules
Flexible game engine to facilitate future updates and enhancements

The rules for SpellBroken have a moderate degree of complexity. We strongly advise reading the Tutorial and the Rules before playing your first game. At a minimum, we advise reading the Tutorial. Both are accessible from the Help item on the title scene menu.

We also suggest watching a CPU versus CPU game. This is a great way to get a quick introduction to the many items and behaviors in the game. If you wish to quit the CPU versus CPU game, touch the screen during a CPU player's turn to bring up the Player Controls and select the Exit Button (left most door image) on the top of the screen. This will return you to the title scene.

Sage Dragon values your feedback and strives to provide the best user experience to its customers. Feel free to send us any comments, issues, or enhancement requests using our support link.

Please note: SpellBroken is designed to be played in landscape orientation. You will need to rotate your device after starting the application.

Well...any thoughts? No reviews in the appstore yet. Anything like Fantasy General by SSI? Loved that old PC game. Well, all of the "General" games, until Panzer General 3d.

Looks like this would be great on the iPad - any plans for this to go Universal or there to be an HD version?

Details on SpellBroken from Developer

Hey Folks,

This is Josh from Sage Dragon. Thanks for taking an interest in SpellBroken!

SpellBroken is a mix of a card battle game and a tactical board game. Some of the major play elements of the game include:

(1) Players draw items (cards) from a fixed set of tribe cards. Items include creatures, spells, structures, or land. Every item has unique abilities. There is also a set of common items player's attempt to acquire by bidding against their opponents.
(2) Players build out the board using land items. Arranging land in "clusters" promotes land to more powerful types (player's can destroy opponent land to demote land). Board tiles need to be "energized" before they can accept land. Land can also used to block opponents. For example, air tiles can only be entered by flying creatures, water by seafaring creatures, etc.
(3) Players use Creatures to capture tiles and to fight opponents. Structures are fixed to tiles and can be captured. Spells either have an instantaneous effect or are attached to an item for a persistent effect.
(4) Item actions are governed by a power system. The chance of playing an item to the board is based on the power source of the tribe and the power source of the item. The behavior of actions may require certain power sources, e.g. a fire creature must be played to a fire tile.
(5) Game goal is to capture opponent home tile and to control at least 50% of the board.

We've tried to create a unique gaming experience so there is a learning curve. We suggest watching a CPU vs CPU game to get a feel for the game play.

I know it's hard to make decisions about purchasing a game based on screen shots. For folks who want to learn more about the game, you can download a PDF of the in-app tutorial from our support page:
http://www.sagedragon.com/contact. Also, check-out or Frequently Asked Questions.
We are putting together a series of walk-though videos so folks can get a taste of the game play.

Our next release is underway and we are committed to evolving SpellBroken to provide the best gaming experience possible. Feel free to send us any comments, questions, or features you'd like to see in upcoming releases using our support page.

We appreciate your financial support so we can continue to make the best games possible. App Store reviews are also greatly appreciated.

Thanks So Much,
