Looking forward to this ! I was lucky enough to be one of the beta testers for this, really enjoyed it. An old 90's classic when you had lots of Doom style games coming out.
This ones very playable, controls work well, instant purchase for me later |

Free? Hopefully it's a free level and then a Iap to unlock full game.

Yep i read elsewhere its free for the first level or two and then you buy an IAP to unlock the full game (which is fair). Hope this does well

LOL I remember playing through this on PC. Ridiculous game, with some pretty crazy things in it. I doubt it's aged all that well, but could still be fun.

I also beta tested and had a blast revisiting Shadow Warrior on my iPod. There's some nice polish with a level selection option and very customizable controls. The controls are fluid and responsive on iPod/iPhone. General Arcade are real first person shooter enthusiasts as you can tell from their other releases (Doomsday series, HacX).
I'm glad to see from the app description they decided to keep the cheat menu... that allowed access to God mode and Get All weapons/keys features that some might recall from the PC FPS incarnations. Cheap but fun. The initial download gives you the first 4 levels free/trial then $1.99 to unlock the rest is what we were told. Last edited by undeadcow; 12-19-2012 at 06:47 AM.. |

I was also beta testing this; while it is a pretty solid port, there are still a number of unfriendly core control/UI issues that won't make iPad users very happy (primarily lack of customisation for certain screen/control elements). The developers have stated that they're going to look at features/fixes that didn't make it in on time, however.

I spent many many hours and quite a lot of many on playing this game on line back in the day. It's not my favorite "build" game (which is Duke 3d), but it's excellent. And, it was one of the first FPS to have alternate shooting mode for each weapon and a tactical nuke that wipes out everything and different death animations for monsters. Excellent game it was/is.
HOWEVER, when porting to hand held, and that is judging from past ports of FPS games, controls usually become very annoying and clumsy and a lot of the fun is going down the drain. I'll try the first level and then decide but the controls need to be good, possibly have accelerometer and gyro. BTW if it is good, $1.99 for full unlock is practically free. |
