Not the most polished or prettiest of the F-Zero/Wipeout racers in the App Store, but it does have a few things going for it:
*Rock-solid frame rate (choose between 30 and 60 FPS) *Reaponsive touch controls *Interesting and fun tracks *Air-break turning (which adds some welcome sophistication to the steering) I'll have to play more to assess how it compares to other futurist racers. But after three tracks it hasn't turned me off |

Geez. I'm kind of in racer overload with Table Top Racing, Cracking Sands and Repulze, but my love of Wipeout style racers is begging me to want to try this one out.
So guess I'm off to fulfill my primal urges... Will try to post impressions later. |

Played a little and generally agree with squarezero's assessment. Definately won't compare to something like Repulze graphics-wise. Going to give it some more playtime, but one thing I wish it had was a career mode. While Repulze at least has challenges, the lack of any sense of progression other than being able to buy new ships is disappointing.

^^ Actually, I take back that last part. It does sort of have a career mode. When I went to race, I just saw the "select ship" / "select track" screen so it seemed like a single race screen. But you do have to unlock tracks, presumably if you place on the current track.

To me, from the video, it looks slow and the controls seem twitchy, not fluid, and the graphics look like crap! Turning my nose away from this one. I couldn't even stand to finish watching it. Ugh!

Well, I went from playing this to playing Repulze again and, even though I like the idea of racing actual opponents (which Repulze doesn't have), it's like freakin' night and day.
This is a decent game and don't care about the $1 I spent on it, but reality sets in when you start to compare it to the competition. IMO, it doesn't hold a candle. |
