What are you guys gaming?

Hey developers!

I saw Dene in a game thread a few minutes ago, apparently enjoying Year Walk - and that brought up a question I already was thinking about from time to time.

So, what do you play when you aren't developing (yeah, I know that time is rare but you're also gamers at heart )?
Do you play more just out of fun or (these days) for research reasons? And do you play only games that are innovative in some sort of way or do you also like to play things that existed a few clones before? Some sort of favourite genre?

Hi, you seemed to be lost on the Internets.
This is TouchArcade, where 2$ for a game is too much, 5$ is an outrage, and 10$ or more is putting sugar in their car tanks whilst killing puppies.

I have almost quit playing PC games, since I started developing Traffic Racer. Currently I only play with my iPad. My favourite genre is endless runners and my favourite game is Endless Road.

Lately I'm playing iOS games for research only. I spend so much time on my devices that I can't stand to pick them up much anymore!

My gaming time is spent with the old fashioned board and card game varieties. And Spaceteam

Yeah, like Blackharon, most of my iOS playing time is research as well. Although I have to say my guilty pleasure and it's been going on (I checked my receipt) since June 2012 is Fairway Solitaire. I do the free daily puzzles on that every day without fail

Oh, and the last "big" game I played all the way through on console was the new XCOM.

I still play some games on PC and my iphone, but admittedly, I just about have to schedule it in.

I pretty much stick to games that are unique or innovative in some way, although adventure is the genre I play most.

Just beat Year Walk this morning. It fell somewhere between research and just for fun.

I feel like it's important as a developer to play some games for fun, even if it's a research-y kind of fun. Or else you'll begin to lose touch with what makes a truly compelling game.

I'm sneaking levels of Puzzle Retreat in when I have a moment, and wishing I had time to play Ni No Kuni, or The Cave.

I think that's the great thing about mobile gaming, its easy to fit around the rest of your life.

Oh, and I have nightmares where I'm only allowed to play games I've worked on

On the computer, Starcraft 2, and way too much of it

On iOS, a lot of our own upcoming game. A lot of endless runners, for research.
Purely for fun, I also last played Year Walk, and it was awesome.
