Default Penumbear - Walk the line between light and shadow (by Taco Graveyard)

Hey folks,

Sal from Taco Graveyard here. I'm excited to show off Penumbear, a tough platformer that we have been working on. The video shows off the gameplay better than I could describe it, so I'll leave you with that:

Low bandwidth Version | Pop Up

In a dark castle basement a teddy bear awakens, alone aside from a small purple firefly. Using Penumbear’s ability to walk the line between light and shadow, and his firefly’s ability to switch lights off and on, will be the only way for Penumbear to make his escape.

On February 28th discover Penumbear on your iOS devices. Developed by Taco Graveyard, creators of the indie musical runner Four Hats, Penumbear is an original platformer in which you will avoid danger and solve puzzles using both light and shadow.

During your journey, Penumbear will explore grimy menacing dungeons and vast caverns. Beware of vicious monsters, fiendish puzzles, and gigantic bosses determined to stop your escape!

Challenge your mind and reflexes to complete the game’s hundred plus levels. With the help of your firefly, transform light and shadow to create a path to help Penumbear escape. On the way out of this dark castle free your fellow bears hidden in the shadows and find fireflies that open doors to new areas, and ultimately to light!

Features:
  • The ability to walk on light and shadows, you’ll look at your surroundings in a new way.
  • Over 100 levels, full of exploration and danger.
  • Secrets: hidden levels, bonus bears, achievements, and an unlockable character.
  • Challenging - prepare to die many times as you learn your way around the castle!
  • Giant bosses blocking your path at the end of each area.

If you have any questions, please ask!

When I heard the music I immediately thought about that poem from your IGF video. It should have never been removed

We had the in game poems / narration redone by someone with better recording equipment than I had, so we ended up taking out the poem that used my horrible voice.

Steve (the artist and animator for Penumbear) put together an SNES-style game manual for Penumbear. I hope you like it.

You can grab the full thing and a high res copy here: http://blog.tacograveyard.com/old-sc...ar-game-manual
