Lums: The Game of Light and Shadows

I'm very proud to announce our action-puzzle game Lums.

Lums world was invaded by Vampires and your task is to kill them by exposing them to the light.

We have implemented quite innovative touch based control and manage to run realtime dynamic lighting with soft shadows at 60 FPS on iPhone4.

The game is almost finished and we will be releasing in few weeks. Launch date will be announced soon

So this has been in development for over a year now?

Video looks great, game seems interesting even if I was hoping for a more serious vibe but it certainly has a charm (:

I feel the need to thank you for a) no zombies! & b) for your effort to have a game that runs at that framerate with nice graphics on old devices - but that remains to be seen.

Will it be universal build and can you share what price you have in mind?

I'll pick this up once it's available.

It won't be universal. iPad version will be available as a separate app.
We are still not sure about the price, but it won't be more than 1.99$ on the iPhone.

@sicksilvo: Actually the first line of code was written more than two years ago I remember that we talked about releasing Lums in "Summer 2012"... I must laugh hard now how naive we were back then But those were crazy times - things like writing our own engine, multi-threaded architecture, or complete rewrite of rendering pipeline had probably something to do with the fact that it took so long to finish the game. We'll do better next time

@Andre: Unfortunately we haven't decided on release date yet because of some things which still need to be done... we will be announce it when everything will be ready.

@m0ncrieff: Glad you like it And to answer your question: yes, the engine is our own. It is custom C++ based 2D engine with OpenGL ES renderer for better portability to other platforms. Making you own engine is fun (and I recommend everybody to try it at least once) but it takes quite some time to produce a solid product so we consider using something like Unity next time so we can finish our future games in shorter time span
