I don't think you have to worry about that. I grew up with one of these... although mine was a student model, not a nice one like this...
I love the look of this game! Is that Kino track the in-game music? It's one of my favourites but I'm not so sure it really goes - but I'd be really interested to hear what others think cos personally I get really annoyed with the usual game soundtracks & just need to switch them off asap.
controls and tutorial First of all, you should know - Aera has brief tutorial, walking you through basics of controls and dynamics. Tutorial will start automatically you play any of the game modes first time, to make sure nobody starts flying without knowing important things. And you can return to it later anytime you want. It looks like this Throttle control (left side of the screens, controls engine) plus boost (red button, top left corner) - this is how you control the speed of your plane. The more speed you have - the better your plane responds to the steering, and of course you need to speed up before you can take off. Speed indicator is a red/blue bar on the top left, next to the boost button. As for aerodynamics - if you go vertically up and run out of boost energy - plane will slow down fast, and than stall. But it's not fatal (unless you are in combat and get shot at this moment ) - you dive, and can get enough speed to control the plane even with engine off. It all was carefully balanced to make it fun and interesting.
The artwork definitely looks great. And that's not just because of the Vargas girls. The gameplay looks really fun and engaging. I'll get this if approved.
The game looks fantastic! I have a question about the camera view. It looks from the video that you look at your aircraft from the right side and a bit behind. Are there various camera views that can be selected? if yes, what are they? Thank you.
Wow, I can't believe I had no knowledge of this until now. This game looks fantastic. Waiting for it with baited breath.
I think this game looks amazing, been following since it was first announced. One of those games with simple controls that offer lots of gameplay possibilities (based on the video) that's perfect for the iPhone. And I love the art style. Reminds me of an animation I did in high school, with similar biplanes battling it out over a European countryside. Any word on when this might get submitted? EDIT: Nevermind, read the whole thread...
camera The only control player has over camera is switching on/off ROLL mode (camera fixed to the aircraft pitch angle or to the horizon) - this might be very useful sometimes in combat and solo modes, and just looks fantastic. Overall, there are few different camera modes in Aera - depending on game mode. We spend a lot of time developing and tweaking what we call "smart camera system", used for dog-fight - to make sure you always have both your plane and the enemy on the screen plus as good view of environment as possible. So, the system takes care of selecting the right angle, distance, make sure camera is not too far, moves smoothly, etc. Then there is different camera for solo/aerobatics and race. And lastly - FreeFlight camera is the most cinematic - because the nature of the free flight game mode, no restrictions/obstacles/objectives. Also, we took special efforts to make sure - all the cameras reflect the dynamics of your planes' movements - it not just follows you, but you feel when you accelerate of slow down, go up/down, etc.
explosions Here is another in-game screenshot: Among other things we have improved explosions - now they look much better then in the video
@ichromo Thank you for your extensive reply. I can't wait to get my hands on this gem. Its good to know that explosions have been improved. They looked a bit simple in the video compared to the rest of the game.
