Well, I got a promo code, but then my download failed, so now, I've wasted all this time and still no app. Then I tried to PM the dev, and no response (though maybe I didn't wait long enough) and I got mad.

What is free? We are talking about the full version, which just has been released. And believe me, not even free vesrions get as many downloads. Some games don't even sell for free.... :-(
Skipper, what about being a bit patient and looking first for possible solutions, before you drive yourself crazy? Not as you could make demands here.... Your code has been emailed to you. You didn't waste it. You can either download the game immediately after it is listed on the appstore, or you can use the code again.
You don't get it. I used the code already, and then iTunes closed. The download stopped, and I can't use the same code again.
AFAIK, you`d be able to download the game without needing another code in this situation. The game has been marked as bought in your iTunes account and you`ll be able to download it once it shows up in iTunes.
When you start a download, it records as a purchase. Just click buy and it'll let you download. If you're not sure, click "write a review" and if it works it'll allow you to download. Happened countless times for me.
