Hi, i used #3 from the second list. Its very very impressive work!! I love it, i think that i will sign up for testing, i can not wait for the new version 1.1. You will add I.O functions? For input read/write texts? Keep the good work friend!!! Cheers
Wow!!! I am so glad I stayed up late last night and found this WONDERFUL application. I was just looking through the App store for something like Codify and found none (...none that I was interested in) that would let me code and see the output on my iPad. I have been using (and learning LUA) with Corona SDK while at my laptop but always wished I could throw some code together with my iPad while I was away from my laptop and see it work. Well.....I found it!!! I am VERY excited for the future of this program and I will support it anyway I can. I did use one of the (5th) codes from the first batch of nine because I just couldn't wait for the next release Would've/Will paid/pay full price for it if/when it was available on the APP store!! I really like how you have laid out the GUI as it is so easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. Keep up the FANTASTIC work!! Thanks
Codify 1.1 has been submitted to the App Store - this is the release version once it (hopefully) gets approved. It will be sold for US$7.99 - does this price seem okay? @MF3D_Dev: I've actually disabled file IO and access to the filesystem as part of the Lua sandbox. At the moment I'm erring on the side of caution with regards to what Apple will accept / reject. Future updates will start to get more adventurous. @vetie thanks for the kind words! Glad to hear you like it Once again, I can't state this enough: version 1.1 is such a significant improvement over version 1.0 that it really feels like a whole new App. I coded the below game, Lua Jump, on Codify entirely in portrait mode (thumb typing) lying in bed. It was pretty satisfying to be able to create a game in such a lazy way. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Look completely amazing man!!! Good job !!! I can' t wait to this new release 1.1 i have several ideas to write XD. I understand you about the file access, dont worry, But anyway, there is any input method with the ipad keyboard?.. Because one of my ideas needs input by keyboard, it will be possible, its too complex?? Thanks for your work friend!! I will buy it when will be release. Cheers.
Codify 1.1 is now "in review." Hopefully not too much longer before a decision is made. Thanks! At the moment there isn't keyboard input. It's not hard to add, but it could make the render view very small while the onscreen keyboard is visible. Though a bluetooth keyboard would be okay. I am considering adding iCade support and an iCade API, in that case I'll look at how feasible it is to do generic keyboard input for the next update.
I am programming in corona and must say I really like how this looks! Looking forward to trying it out when it gets released
@borgb Thanks for the interest! I actually didn't know about Corona until just recently - it looks great. By the way, here is the final Codify video. Shows off all the cool example projects made by testers Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Another very happy Corona SDK developer here, but I can't wait to pay $8 for this! Sure I'm more productive on a desktop machine, but ONLY when I'm at my desk! And with two teenagers, neither with a driver's license, I find myself playing "taxi" more often than I care to admit. Codify will give me a "quick fix" when I'm away from the office. I can't wait to play around with it -- it looks very cool! Jay
Thanks Jay! Looking forward to hearing what you think. I made Codify for myself for exactly that reason - getting some quick programming in when you're stuck without another platform.

I have an email sharing update (send projects by email, import them by email, web) ready to go, but it's going to be up to Apple whether that is allowed. If they reject it I plan to appeal the decision to see if there is any way to provide this feature. DemonJim Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2010 416 5 18 App Developer UK http://www.demonstudios.com/ #55 DemonJim, Oct 26, 2011 I think Apple (understandably) just don't want any Thomas, Richard or Harold being able to create (and sell online) any old/rubbish/offensive games they've made using it. So this basically means as long there are certain limitations, in terms of both features and performance, then I can't see how they can really mind projects being transferrable. You can already use the clipboard to cut-n-paste whole programs around anyway (to-and-from the web/email or whatever). The fact is Codify is utterly fantastic - the only fair reason they have to reject any future update is because it is honestly getting TOO good. indievisio Member Sep 27, 2011 21 0 0 #56 indievisio, Oct 27, 2011 This is just amazing tool! I've been waiting for this since Apple release iPad, my only hope was Muteki Corp with it's Game Studio but they are not hurry with their tool, and here are you guys. Thank you so much! Keep it live by updating and adding new features. Take a look at Game Salad, there is a bunch of great ideas done right in this tools for Mac. I wish you best of luck and definitely a purchase from me. You just need to think the way to publish games, a good idea is to compile game somehow into the xCode project which can be sent to email or dropbox and later can be built for appstore. Have you considered adding support for importing images via the user's photo album? I've played with another app on the app store called Basic! (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/basic!/id362411238?mt=8) that allows importing images this way, as well as pasting them in from the clipboard. Since there's already a precedent for this, it seems like it wouldn't be too risky to attempt adding a feature like this. jguice New Member Oct 30, 2011 2 0 0 #60 jguice, Oct 30, 2011 Nice Work! Will you be setting up a bug/feature tracking system to keep up with issues, etc.? I've got a handful of suggestions already (and I see many others do as well). Sorry if some are dupes. autocomplete for user variables/functions (within current class and from other classes) autocomplete tips/help for function args ability to set font size alter built-in select to select entire line by default (or maybe triple-tap for this?) double-tap (or some other way ) to just set cursor inside a yellow highlighted element (sometimes I just want to type a number) tap-and-hold yellow highlighted element to select more quick buttons (maybe a 2nd toolbar, or a tap-and-hold toolbar for less used items). some ideas: - comment/uncomment current line (or selected lines) - autoformat/indent - etc. function folding (maybe tap black arrow to left of line # to fold/unfold) pressing enter after typing end unindents the end one level tabs at the top are a bit tiny tap-and-hold tab to drag/rearrange It would also be great if there was a sound function that could take a frequency and duration for arbitrary audio output. Kudos for providing a decent coding experience directly on the ipad. I've been waiting quite awhile for something like this Thanks! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
