Thanks, all of the artwork is hand drawn, then colored with water colors, then inked over with coffee ink. Needless to say it's a lot of work, but I think the results are well worth the effort. Here is another screenshot for you guys. These are the current 3 starter creatures that you get to choose from.
Hey That looks promising! Do they have names? Those 3 monsters... Do you have a forum? Is there going to be Beta? I would really play beta!
I'll post the bios for the 3 creatures soon. We will have a short beta to get some feedback. We're hoping to have a beta build ready for when we go to PAX. So a little over a week and a half from now we'll be figuring out what to do for beta.
I was asked to join in on the discussion here. I am the artist on this game. Feel free to shoot art-related questions my way. Here, have an thingy breaking down what I do.
Abolutely love the art style and also these type of games. Cant wait to see the game in action or a video or something
Thank you. We're hoping to have a video soon after the beta is finished. In then meanwhile- is there anything art related people want to see more of (in moderation, of course; I won't be releasing all the critters)?
Progress update: - We've gotten most of the flow for the beginning of the game done. You can start a new game choose your starting creature and start your journey. This also includes loading previous saves. - The world navigation is now complete and turned out great. I'll try to post a quick video of that soon. (If any of you guys know a good way to capture video from my iPhone I'd appreciate the suggestions.) Up Next: - Next I'm working on finishing up the battle view. This is a project I work on in my free time, so It's slower moving than I'd like. But we feel confident we'll have a beta build ready for PAX Prime a week from now. After PAX we'll work on getting some beta testers and really polishing the game up. Judging from our progress I'm hoping for a mid to late September launch window. Here's some more pretty stuff to look at...
Different art design and thats sth new and it looks cool ! I hope i can play beta test. I love such games! What is PAX? I never played a beta before.
We'll put up a way to register for beta soon. PAX Prime is the Penny Arcade Expo, which is a big game expo in Seattle. It attracts all kinds of game developers, tabletop, mobile and actually has a lot of indie titles. SO we'll be there for fun, but we hope to show off Creature Chaos a bunch.
The length of the game will vary from person to person, since a large part of collecting creatures is skill based. Then the worlds are procedurally generated, so no 2 experiences will be the same. We also plan to continuously introduce new creatures. So ideally gameplay will be infinite. (Of course our ability to continue to support the game after launch will largely depend on how well it is received.)
Here's a shprt clip of the game in motion. I'm still finishing up the battle stuff, so that'll be the next video I post, hopefully later tonight or early tomorrow. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
