I'm on Hole 2801, the colors have subtly shifted through the spectrum to kelly green, and the glories of this game continue. After Hole 2000, the game gets maddeningly difficult. Golfinity has a lot to live up to.

For diehards only: new awesome update changes hole designs after 3000. Previously, they were all pretty flat and the color remained the original neutral beige and tan.
Now, awesomely, the later holes cycle through the gradual color changes again and are tricky/spiky/non-flat. I'm hoping this keeps cycling for eternity.
In essence, the replayability of this zen minimalist masterwork went way up. And, and, the gaps are now filled with water that makes a splash sound when hit into.
    Game. Of. The. Year.

I came across some water on hole 501. It was blue. Game of the Year.

And that's it. Cancel the polling and start writing the article now, Eli and Jared. Andy and I have spoken. Desert Golfing is Touch Arcade's Game of the Year!! Congratulations to all the other nominees and better luck next time.

I long to begin the sweet, eternal journey that is Desert Golfing. And yet, just as I'm about to, something pulls me back. I'm not ready to leave. Woe is me!

Infinity must wait a little longer.

Does this mean you keep restarting/reinstalling in order to achieve a typically exceptional high score on the first thousand holes? That's what I was doing, until I learned to stop worrying and love the slog. :)

man - i picked up odd world and x-com this week but went back to this after a brief 19 enjoyable holes in the summer. Had no idea it had ex/imploded. Haven't even opened odd world or x-com since starting this again. I hope it's not a joke about game centre kicking in at 1000 holes. Only another 750 to go. It's absolutely beautiful though. I get excited with every hole in one and me and my youngest laugh out loud when it bounces back out. Quite simply, perfect.

    No doubt.
Just wait until the colors start shifting and the game gets seriously difficult after Hole 2000.
I may have mentioned this already, but this game rocks, rules, and reigns.
Nice! slamraman's been sucked into the magisterial gyre of DG. No joke about Game Centre, good sir.

I really want to call Monument Valley game of the year - but this keeps giving me good reason not to.
It's my most played game of the year.
It's my most enjoyed game of the year.

Hole 316 - just saw my first cactus. To paraphrase Andy, 'it was green'. Agree with LK and Luciano above too. I find it hard to recommend things like XCOM and MHFU to work pals but Desert Golfing is one of those games you could recommend to anyone. It truly is the main course.
    Sorry.

    Edit: Hole 446 - water.

Just wait till you see a rock, and take your time knocking that rock all the way across The desert and into the hole.

For some strange reason it feels fantastic.

haha - hole 537 and into 538 - think I saw a rock - tried to hit it but missed and then had the choice of trying for the rock or the hole. Went for the hole this time.
    Old habits.

Edit: 800 holes in. One more sleep 'till 1,000.

hole 999 complete. I haven't been excited about a videogame like this since the 1980s.

wow - andy and guise - how in the world did you get those scores. Hats off. Proper well played. I'd get 4 holes in one and then a 24.
Going to restart before I take the long trek.

Finally got sucked in by this after months of trying to decide whether you're all actually enjoying this or if it's all some elaborate joke.

Half a day and 320 holes in, there's definitely a peaceful kind of satisfaction to be found here. I definitely have no plans to restart and improve my score though!
