HAHA!! I was following the comments on the wiki obsessively waiting for someone to find the right combo since I don't have enough gems to try myself.
It is Lava and Mud, 3rd try worked for me. The egg is in the Nursery, much lighter colored than the egg in the top gem stone habitat. Timer was 1:00:47 in my upgraded EBI. Good luck everyone!! I never did get a Equinox but at least I can visit friends and see one do its flying loops and floating on it's back. Lucky this time and hope everyone else gets one quickly also!
I did get it with lava and mud after 8 to 10 fails and gems to speed up. I tired that on sandbox and it did not say I could use it for opal all this has been different.
Why is it so hard to have patience? There are 30 more days to go and the fail times really aren't bad for this one. No need to use gems but I really want to.
Short fails are nice. And this combo can lead to the Bone dragon if they re-release it for Halloween. I hope they do because I just missed it last year.
That's an interesting observation. I wonder if that was intentional by BFS. I missed the Bone last year as well. Started playing in November right after it was gone. Very hopeful that they bring it back.

Exactly! Save your gems, once you have one or two, you'll be pleased you waited and the discipline is good for you... Good luck....I'm only on fail no 2, so that's nothin'

Good luck with opal, I'm on fail number 2 as well found out I only have 1 lava so using other cave to make one of those. I want to know How can 2 such ugly dragons make such a pretty one??

I spent gems to get my Dragon hopefully early and to support Backflip. It is October I hope we get more Dragons and New stuff.
This same phrase is used in Oz. Although we prefer cracking open a can of beer. PS - I love rude and dodgy. Thank you. @Korvair. Oops, I'll try to be more serious. Hope you feel better soon. I also hope to see new things in Dragonvale in October. I would prefer new islands even without new habitats. New decorations would be great as well. We have a ridiculously low selection of path tiles, trees, houses, etc.
