The game auto-saves when you press the home button and leave for something else. It also autosaves in checkpoints. So all you need to do is get back in the game and go to "Load Game". It should be there in the top slot.
Thank you for your review! Yes, the IAPs are NOT required in any place, the game was not modified in any way to incentivise people buying them. It's just an option. To get the special, most powerful weapon on the original game (called X3000) you'd have to go through the entire game in HARD!! You can do it here but you can also buy it

Yeah I've got used to the controls. Duke stays in the middle of the screen so all the buttons don't really get in the way Really enjoying it. Seems to be a fair bit of content. Nice platform/run n gun type of game. Some funny humour as well. Thanks to the dev for a great port. Look forward to more !

All of the load slots are empty when I did this. And I did that right away before I wrote my impressions. Nothing saved. And I spent over 45 minutes playing and passing many checkpoints and finishing 3 stages.

Yes I bought it yesterday to give you some support… and is exactly as the description says under the gun. Makes the game easy and messy lol. I will use it to refinish the game on harder modes! Once again thanks for the great job. I remember again throught playing it the club stage and oh my oh my… lovely memories!
After spending some time witht this, I can say it feels great. I'm playing this on an iPhone 5 but have yet to try it on my Air. As psj3809 said, I too have got used to the controls. It took me he first couple stages, but it feels pretty good already. I would like to point out that I have also had the problem with the save state feature. When I exit the game and come back to it and select the load option, all of the slots are blank. This is not really a big deal as of yet since I haven't got far at all, but obviously after an hour or so into it, this would become a problem. Aside from that, I'm really enjoying the port! First, thanks for the promo code. I spend some time to get used to this "old school" kind of game. The controls are filled all over the screen but it's bearable. The game lack the polish ness but I do aware it's an old port of a game a decade ago, so when my expectation is not high, I had some fun time with this game. Overall it's a fun average game but I don't think it should cost 1.99. It's a 99 cents game at most. Even square Enix priced the old tomb raider at 99cents. That's all for now. Thanks.
