You can actually see individual pixels in the battlefield and character graphics -- basically, the blur is gone. If that' not retina (in an pixel-based game) I don't know what is.

Was able to download the update already - very nice! The game looks superb now. Can't wait for that higher resolution unit character graphics update.

It looks fine slight pixelated but I can live with that. Also I've made a video on ipad2 so might help you decide.

It's noticeably faster on my 4g iPod. :)

As someone with an iPad (but not an iPhone) who doesn't know much about this Retina business, and has been waiting for FFT to arrive on iPad, I'm curious. Does this Retina update affect play on the iPad at all? I'm just about at the point of giving up on waiting for the iPad version. :)

I had no complaints with the original release, however the retina update just made this game amazing!

I'm running it on my iPad 1 with retinapad now, and while it looks amazing compared to without, I've noticed one issue so far: When in a battle, if I go Act > (Job Ability) > List of skills, it becomes VERY laggy.
Only this specific menu level though - as soon as I back out to 'Act', the lag disappears.

This is fine - no lag:

Massive slowdown: (not just for items, applies to any job menu)

Oddest thing. Emailed the developer, but I don't know if he can do much.

I was going to wait for iPad version but I couldn't turn down cleaned up menus and a price drop.

$11.99 ughhhh still hurts for some reason... I think $10 was the most I ever spent on an ios game I think it was Aralon and worth every penny and more. I am guessing everyone here will say its worth it?

I'd say get it. Who knows when the next sale will be?

With its current updates and all, it's pretty much worth the price.

  18. How other companies make sales: Free or 69P games
How Square Enix make sales: £10.99 to £7.99, £4.99 to £2.99 (up to 67% off)

They also seem to have a new game! (Victorian Mysteries)

FFTactics or Chrono Trigger? May go on Tactic's side.

hey, signed up to say that i am running the same configuration (ipad1+retinapad) and don't see any slowdowns/lag yet. i'm only 2 hours into the game, so the skill lists aren't really crowded- maybe that's why. did you have slowdowns from the beginning?

Gotta love that infamous Square Enix tax!

I'd go with Tactics. Trigger's a classic, but the iOS port is sloppy as hell, whereas Tactics is a much more polished iOS product, especially after that last recent update. Make the best of that sale price!!
