Every recent (major) Square Enix game has been released in English on the same day as the Japanese version.

Just the opposite , I prefer 2D Final Fantasy , true remakes of old games. If this was done in 3D style like 3 and 4 it would be a pass for me, now I have to put money on the side for it
I would actually consider buying FFV if it was 2D rather than 3D. The 3D graphics look like they dropped out of the N64 era a lot of the time, and sacrifice the incredible detail of 2D sprites in the process. The character art played a large part in making games like Chrono Trigger memorable for me, and 3D takes a big step back from that.
I honestly wished we had gotten the ps versions of ff3 and 4, just for 2d graphics. They age better, and are much easier to improve. Plus they coulda released the 2 add on games for ff4.

That is awesome and such a relief. I much prefer getting V and VI in 2D form even if they update the visuals. I prefer things a bit more pixelated, but I am more than happy to give it a go with these FF Dimensions-style graphics. Now I just have to finish all of the others. I'm such a sucker for grinding that I have started 1-4 and haven't finished any of them!
The sprites in this game look awful compared to the sprites in the PSP games. I wish SE would get rid of the FFD style already...
I guess I'm in the minority for wanting 3d characters. Some sprites actually can look really good but I'm not digging these new ones..
sadly i have to agree i was expecting something more like the psp style that the one used in FFD, that doesnt look that good IMHO that they have a huge chest or a huge belly
I was hoping every ff1-6, including ffiv interlude, ffiv after years, ffd, and ff mystic quest would like that. That would be e-mazing.
Square Enix put all their iOS Final Fantasy games (except Tactics) on sale through the 27th with the international message: Edit: Just read better your response; no other indications but I don't know that I would expect any more with something as clear as the sale/announcement.
