Is there castle defense in this game ? I don't mind buying whole French campaign , but buying only one unit as IAP or buying gold to boost army and win ( pay to win in multiplayer ? ) isn't that appealing. Will watch for more impressions before I buy this one.
Per their Facebook, regarding IAP to finish the campaign: Slitherine Ltd: "No not at all. The gold only makes the game easier and we've already added a mode that is easier than the original PC version. On PC the buy old option didn't exist but rather than just dumbing down the game we wanted a mechanic that would let people get some help if they needed it. 16 hours ago"
The weapons and armor are very authentic. The skills are all taken from medieval German fighting manuals. The gold purchases are not consumable so you buy them once and all new games come with them. They are a cheat really and you can only buy a max of 6000 gold which is enough to buy everything you could want. And... We have just submitted the game to Apple for review!
Dude, no doubt! Especially for us strategy whores.... I mean we just got Ace Patrol and Frozen Synapse while HGBM is on the way and XCOM is not far behind. Looks like my beloved Battlefield and a few other console games will be facing a tough fight for my time/attention this summer. (But in the end--Battlefield always wins out of course! I've played this on Xbox (and its great) and I think people need to realize that this is a full-blown console/PC port although I'm sad to say that I do not believe multiplayer will be included. However the controls for this version will be much better and easier/ more intuitive to use with a touchscreen as opposed to a control pad. Again, a big THANK YOU to Pip, Iain and the Devs for their hard work in porting this over to iPad.
That is the way it should be. Buying gold should be a permanent addition rather than a consumable. Good job.
Something typical: will it be released as soon as it will be approved, or you will wait for the upcoming Thursday?
Ya, that was actually what I was wanting to ask as well. Hopefully Pip or Iain will let us know if they can.....
Seriously, what do you people see that is so interesting in Agricola, looks like board farm simulator game to me ? Great Medievil Battles I eagerly await now that IAP are explained as completely optional for overall playing experience, probably next week at usual release day as it's not their first release ?
By no means I put Agricola in the same category as GBM, but in my opinion is a great board game, and if it's well implemented in the mp part it will surely be a hit. Btw have you ever played the board game? PS: I don't want this thread to become a place for an "Agricola - good or not?" fight
