Just threw my dollar into the game after reading impressions on the main thread.
Better wasting one rather than five, assuming the game isn't that great... Will check it out tomorrow when I get time.

.... If KC2 and Ascension let me ;p

This is one of the best ios games in my opinion but really i dont get why the devs are doing this kinda moves and screwing their own game with this bad image

You said yourself this is a premium game so i didn't mind the iap since i get money well ingame without even the companion app but now putting a iap to adds? that by the looks of it is already off since it doesnt show in the itunes page now

And i dont think it would be just press a button while been online since in the itunes page clearly put it was a 0.99$ iap and like every iap if you try to use offline you will get the same message

I dont mind the sale after 2 weeks of release but trying to put ads without a word is not nice move since it going back to its regular price right?

Overall i dont get why you make this kinda move that clearly is getting you less sales at lest by looking at this forum, so i going to be really sharp with this and backup every ipa after a update is out i have stant up to give a clear opinion of this but sorry this last move is not nice allthought the iap since to be gone now

Thanks. I have to agree with you, sigh. We are currently #6 paid apps in Russia probably because they dont read the forums and just play the game instead :)

"I cannot disclose much, but I will hint. We are working on a solution that would allow us to carry on campaigns without hurting our dear first customers who paid for the game in the first place. Cause we need your support and I hope you need creativity that is sadly lacking now in the games overall..."

    So here are my questions:

    1) is this a sale and price will return to 4.99 again, or is this a new pricing model?

    2) are you requiring the Internet connection as the workaround to get past the old Apple iDevice ID scheme that allowed Devs and Apple to track app usage and user behavior to resell for additional revenue, and that was discontinued and removed from iOS because of massive user and media blowback?

(I DO NOT consider an APP to be a PREMIUM title when it requires Internet to collect user data. Especially because if I am a paid user, but without Internet coverage (i.e. where I don't have WiFi access while using my ipad4) then I would be subjected to advertising as a paid premium customer simply because I am sans Internet access for a game which does not otherwise require it.

    3) When you said you wish to try to work out a pay model which permits you to try new "campaigns" it seems you are referring to advertising of one form or another to be implemented in the future. Is this what you mean by "allow us to carry on campaigns"?

If so, then I am increasingly skeptical. I will be blunt, I love the art style and much of the gameplay feedback from the few satisfied users, but I am with the majority when it comes to fusing Premium and Free pay models. All of this strikes me as a grab from Devs to be able to capitalize on games beyond a reasonable asking price and in a fashion which affects the fun and immersion of the game.

I know that many including this site's Chief Editor Eli are in support of "Freemium" models (and I will admit that not all of the implementations have been inherently evil IMHO); however, these new pay models are spreading to all corners of gaming (PC, Console, Mobile, etc...) and in more and more cases show that the games themselves are being affected, now being designed from the ground up to suit the pay model, perhaps even more so than the user experience of actually playing the game for enjoyment. This is a very sad trend towards developer greed across all platforms that is being primarily pushed forward on Mobile platforms at present, but is obviously intended to be pervasive in all platforms. This is not just about Devs getting paid for a good product (well made Premium games have and will continue to do well when they actually meet consumer demands), this is about Devs wanting to be able to make games that keep earning revenue long after the initial purchase of the game. This may be an attractive model in some very specific cases, but by and large, for quality Adventure, RPG, or Strategy games, this usually ends up just turning the game into a grind first and ruining the entire experience.

Maybe I am just an oldschooler, but I loved the deep immersion to be enjoyed when buying a game I had been eagerly anticipating and understanding that everything the game was designed to offer waiting for me to discover within. Instead, the game is now often used as a way to get a player just invested enough to want more, then you hit pay wall , or "haha, game over, want more? Buy the rest of what would normally be a full game from our In-App store!". Frankly. I have been mostly reliving all my favorite games from before these new pricing models rather than deal with the BS of interrupting immersion and fun for more Profit.

Know I know some will say "yeah, but this only happens because people will only pay $.99 cents for a game anymore." It is true that many will wait for a sale before buying, but this is being driven by a few key factors.

    1) Many, if not most iOS titles are shorter in length and content by equal measure to the lesser price (with the obvious exceptions of ported full version vintage titles) than their PC or Console counterparts.

    2) The iOS platform has a MASSIVE customer base, many of which are not hard core gamers. Casual gamers will often wait for the sale, but are not representative of the primary intended demographic. They represent additional money and can be good reason for a sale after the primary demographic have bought the title.

    3) There is simply put a Rediculous amount of mediocre games available on the App Store which has systematically driven down expectations for hardcore gamers like myself who gladly pay full price for full fledged gaming on such an accessible gaming platform (iOS).

I long for a return to sanity where large scope games don't cost $59.99 plus a Season Pass for the downloadable content that would otherwise have just been in any normal game release to begin with. As it is Now we can pay full price for most of a game, then pay out indefinitely for the rest while the game as the bugs (early adopters are the new "beta testers") have been addressed... Blech :-d

Yep. Sucks. Theyre making it easy for people to add them on the dont-buy list.

I actually missed the 99 cent sale, so am glad to pick this up for free. But I feel for everyone who just bought it and feels shafted now. I know I would have.

What??? This was on sale for a buck two days ago...

Wowzers, guess I am lucky I waited since I don't care too much for infinity blade clones and disk sizes that are huge.

There's also a post in the main thread by the dev saying to like them on Facebook by tonight to get 5,000 coins before the next update so I have a feeling this is not just a sale but probably going freemium. And what about all those that bought the game and don't read these forums? Likely SOL if I'm right.

A 99 cent sale right before going freemium is a SUPER douche move and will not gain very many fans on this site.

Well, if you "like" them on FB you get some coins... oh, the irony...

  16. Nope, he didn't ask if it was worth a buck.

He cursed it... But many benefited, so not all is lost.

Did you look at the IAP before throwing down your dollar? That was what turned me away from this. Then I read this thread and it said something about IAP to remove ads and I was just seeing red flags like I was in Turkey (they have a red flag if you're wondering).

But for free, as this probably should have been early on... I locked in the license, but not planning to install this one anytime soon because I'm in a racing game phase.

Yeah, I did, but a couple folks told me the IAP wasn't necessary, so I threw down the dollar. And it's not even the dollar that bothers me. It's the fact that devs like this screw over their customers by dropping to free so damn soon.

Eh, end rant. I'm gonna play some more Block Fortress. :p

  20. Yeah, those remove add inapp stuff made me hold off as well. If it smells like a freemium, and walks like a freemium, well, what does that make?

    A freemium with ads.

Now I wonder how this will compare to Blood & Glory. Wish I had the disk space to find out before the ads come to this premium game.
