I've got it on my testing iPod Touch 2G - it has a couple of unmentioned features - in iPod particularly, and it seems pretty stable. The new, optimized Apple apps feel faster than they ever have (Springboard, Mail etc.) while the unchanged ones can be a bit laggy. App compatibility generally seems really good - no app has failed to run, though a couple have been unstable. The custom background feature hasn't been enabled yet, as I hear it is still very unstable on a 3GS at the moment. The button is grayed out in Photos, so I presume they will add it in a future beta. Folders work, but as soon as you connect to iTunes it throws a hissy fit, so best not to use them yet. Don't ask me for screenshots or access to the beta for anyone who is not a developer. You won't get it.
So, do you think the will enable background for 2gen? That's the one thing I want since we can't get multitasking.
I would imagine so - there's no reason not to. Even the OS 4 simulator can't do the custom backgrounds at the moment (and that has multitasking).
Wait, is it possible to get a first build of iPhone OS 4.0 already? If you're a developer and you download the SDK?
Does anybody know if bluetooth works between all phones now in 4.0 ? This works even on a 10 year old phone, so why does Apple stay behind on this ?
Thanks for the insight. I have two 3gs phones, but they are for daily use (one is my wife's). I want to put on mine, but I'm concerned that it's not stable enough to trust for my daily phone yet.
Is there a list of all the new features anywhere? I read somewhere that you will be able to create multiple playlists which is awesome. Been wanting that forever.
