It unlocks all of the recipes in your craftbook. Completely optional since you find craft notes occasionally and anything you craft via the grid is automatically added to the craftbook.

Do any JJ veterans have tips for organizing items in chests, in terms of how many types of chests I should maintain? The major classification I've come across are:

    - Tools
    - Weapons
    - Ores
    - Ingots
    - Seeds and saplings
    - Armor/Clothing
    - Accessories
    - Organic mob drops
    - Wood/Stone/Clay etc
    - Food

Are there any other classes I should plan for?

Are there creeper type enemies in this game? Meaning ones that will mess up your buildings. I have played for a few in game days so far and all I have seen is zombies and two kinds of spiders.

Not above ground, or at least not on Terra. I still haven't gotten a full portal yet x.x Normal skeletons, zombies, spiders and slimes are all you'll see on the surface of Terra at night.

Underground there's a variation of slime that explodes upon death and a type of zombie that throws dynamite, but they're deep underground.

There are bomb chucking mobs deep in the earth that can destroy blocks, but none on or near the surface.

I see a couple people still asking about iron and how to find it. I had a little trouble at first too, and I figure there are more people out there. So here's my tip, find a bed of rock tiles and start digging, you won't find it in dirt.

I looked every where at first and couldn't find a lick of iron. Finally I found a few pieces stuck in some rock tiles. I started to focus on digging through rock anytime I found a big area of it and that led me to find a TON of iron. I have yet to find iron in regular dirt nodes, always comes from the rock nodes.

Hope this helps! Stay safe out there! :)

Finally found a world with some iron and some relatively interesting "dungeons" underground, and starting to get into this a tad. I'm not the biggest fan of crafting games - I very much prefer a story that's pre-made for me, and I play these things as more a tick all the boxes kind of experience. Have I seen X, Y and Z? Crafted this, that and the other? Not yet? Then keep going.

However, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a good one, and I'd say this is certainly a good one. (I never played the first Junk Jack, so that wasn't a given for me.) I like the emphasis on exploration and discovery over combat, and the touchscreen UI is fairly good, though I'm having some problems joining stacks and swapping things from inventory to chests and so on. My main misgivings at this stage would be the balance of blocks - based on what I've played I still think iron feels a little too rare for what it is - and while I like the game it doesn't really feel like it has that much of its own identity yet. Maybe when I finally find some portal stuff it'll stop feeling just like Minecraft in 2D? Not that this is entirely a bad thing! Just saying.

So how do you actually find recipes? Standing here with an anvil and no use for it.

On the topic of iron, it's currently my most abundant ore. I have over 640 iron ore which is double my copper stock(I don't always grab copper. But I don't always grab iron anymore, either). Once you have enough to get an anvil and a couple picks, the distribution picks up massively due to the new depth.

Currently using gold tools and primarily hunting for a third Seth portal piece so I can check that out. I hadn't found a single piece until this morning and have found two so far x.x

    Edit:
You don't have to find craft notes to make things. If you have simple crafting disabled, you can figure out the patterns in the grid and still create things(and the recipe gets added to the book when you do). Tools and armor designs are fairly obvious. You'll find craft notes while you go around breaking things, though.

Neat, thanks. Another quick one: Does deleting the player from the options menu affect worlds in any way? My friend forgot to rename the character from "Player" and I can't see an option for that.

I am loving the game do far, I tested junk jack and saw it evolve and grow, and junk jack X is not only a reiteration of junk jack, but an awesome new game with great opportunities for adventure, and I am enjoying it thoroughly. Also, it's refreshing to see an actual thread focused on helping people with questions about the game, unlike some who would rather dis other games (*cough* *cough* terraria *cough*) keep it up guys.
On another note: character deletion, how does it work/ effect the game world? I too want to know.

It seems as if the world remains the same, just a new player is inserted where your old one was, I just did it because I did the same thing as your friend. I would reccomend putting things in chests so he doesnt lose them though.

Keep in mind that the craftbook resets when you create a new character.

Question guys. I love this game. Got a massive house. I like how you can have one world for your house and just start another one simply for mining haha maybe that's cheap but it's so much fun. Anyways the question is this: you know on your equipment screen? You can have helmet, chest, leggings, feet and jewlery? What is that last square? It has a brown border around it. You can stick anything into it. What does that do? Thanks eh?

That's the ammo slot, you can put arrows in it, equip a bow in a quickslot and shoot arrows by tapping the screen. Other types of ammunitions and weapons may come in future updates :)

Just a quick update: we're listening to the feedback here in the forums and we're working on a patch that addresses the iron balance and makes the game a little easier in the first planet. Less mobs, and general tweaks.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, we really hope you're having fun with the game despite the minor balance issues.

I just found a statue in the Prison biome, but even a gold hammer couldn't break it. Do I need mithril?

I've come across a couple of those as well. Your post reminded me of something I wanted to try, though. So I grabbed a big bomb and went to a statue that I remembered and it worked! Higher tools may also work, dunno yet, but there ya go.
