I used to play MTG many years ago and haven't played it until now. Surpised how easy it was to get back into it. Tons of fun and well worth the 10 bucks to unlock the full game.
Is it just me, or does the AI cheat? Last time I played MTG, you were limited to 4 cards of a kind per deck. http://i.imgur.com/GnxZX.jpg
If the previous versions are anything to go by then it'll be 6 months tops. I can handle waiting (and playing my other 500 games) until then. When I do need my Magic fix I'll pop onto my PC where I'm still halfway through the campaigns of the previous versions - or play with the three decks I get for free. Maybe they'll have sorted out the fuzzy low res textures by then.
I think I read somewhere that one limit of the iPad version is that you can't do any 4 player vs. real opponents, only AI.
See you in half a year then, the game should be 5$ by then, make sure to put away 0.83$ each month in your piggy bank
I believe that is still the case but I'm willing to bet exceptions are made in these weird puzzle matches (Encounter/Challenge).
Same here. So while the game seems pretty familiar there are a few mechanics like "Kicking" that are pretty new to me.
Gotcha! Instabuy! Going to check all features, surely in just few minutes I'll be ready for some online play. Everybody feel free to ask for friendship and for matches with this beautifully polished game, my nicks are clearly displayed on my signature: you're all welcome! ^^
You now have access to the full game. The additional decks need to be unlocked through game play. As you beat the AI in the campaign you unlock cards in the deck you are using and at times unlock a new deck to play with. If you want to skip this then it's 99cents to unlock each deck.
That is to unlock all the cards. Each deck has add you have to unlock by winning matches. The IAP is just so you don't have to unlock every card 1 at a time, but the decks are available. Edit: beat to it!
I have the 2012 xbox version which I really like. I think I already think the iPad is better to play this on though. And it looks so nice.
I think you still need to unlock them in the campaign. If it works anything like it did in the 2012 version, once you beat an opponent in the campaign you gain access to at least a basic version of their deck. Everytime you then win a match with this deck (even if via custom games vs. AI, already defeated campaign opponents, or online) you'll gain 1-2 more cards to customize this deck with. By default the game will just add the new cards to your deck so you'll need to get into the deck manager and do some editing unless you'd like a 90 card deck (actually, even more once you factor in the land the game will automatically add in for you). One minor thing worth noting. While you might be able to unlock up to 30 cards for each deck, this doesn't mean they're 30 unique cards as sometimes they'll give you a pair of a given card (and this will count as 2 of the 30). If you don't want to wait you can pay an extra $0.99 to unlock a full deck (I assume it means you get immediate access to the deck AND have all of its 30 bonus cards).
Being Mr. Random I LOVED the Archenemy (3-on-1) duels of 2012! The idea of a "Random Event" deck was too cool! So does this PlaneChase mode incorporate random events or character cards?
JESUS CRISTO! 4 Player Free for All with a wacky random event deck and a die! I've just found the coolest mode of play ever, thanks! So, just to be clear, those Challenge and Encounter deals are purely optional, right? I hate Magic puzzles or the concept of stacked decks and hope, other than having a few achievements tied to them, I won't have to clear them to unlock some of the decks.
They're part of the campaign, so you have to defeat them to progress. Once one is beaten though you can certainly ignore it and never touch it again, if you prefer to play in other game types to unlock cards. Yep. You get your first one after completing the first four campaign missions.
