Yeah, can't freakin wait... After Space Tripper, I pretty much got an iPad after hearing about this... Woohoo!!
I've just got back from the US with a nice shiny new iPad3. All I can say is Mutant Storm looks gorgeous on a Retina display! Even at the higher resolution the game runs at a solid 60fps The colours look very vibrant and you cannot see any pixel stepping. I'm actually blown away with how much power the GPU has - I thought there might be filtrate issues but non have showed up so far. This game will rock on a Retina screen!!! Edit: The textures from the original PC version were at a higher res - this means that the art assets work very well on a Retina display and means nothing is blurred up and looks very sharp - you have to see it running to really appreciate how lovely it looks
Screen shots of retina on the iPad3 does not give it justice. You really need to see it on the device! Edit: See below for pictures... Using bucket photos will not show correct rez.
Well that's not good... The file size is too big to show and bucketphoto will not show the correct rez. The picture is normal iPad version and not the iPad3 version.
I posted to imageshack.us to show someone a screenshot of another app. It displayed it at full resolution. Give that site a try.
For those images, you'll need to remove the .th from the URL, otherwise you'll be posting the thumbnail. So instead of: Code: iPad non retina: http://img815.imageshack.us/img815/4529/img0222.th.png iPad retina: http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/6591/img0001mc.th.png It should be Code: iPad non retina: http://img815.imageshack.us/img815/4529/img0222.png iPad retina: http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/6591/img0001mc.png And here are the images iPad retina:
Cheers for that Well I might as well give an update on how things are going. I am in the process of finalising the inner game stuff - which includes: 1. Increased the render target size for the feedback effects - it now looks less blurry on the iPad2 and still runs at 60fps. 2. iPad retina works and runs at 60fps. 3. iPad1 version is cut back and runs at 30fps. So all that is left to do is menus, online stuff and such. We will also be using a publisher for the game. Depending on contracts this should be announced sometime next week.
I'm really excited for this to come out. Hope everything goes well, and this drops as soon as possible!
Just an update on this: We are currently in the process of finalising contracts with a publisher. Things will be probably announced soonish. I am really happy on how the game looks on Retina and that it can run at 60fps - pretty mind blowing really! Just menus and online stuff to do now - the boring stuff
You know what, I think I've made the best controls for a duel stick shooter on a touch screen. I would say that it's on par with a real analog pad - it took a while to get right!
This will be an instant buy. I've played the hell out of Mutant Storm, ever since buying the Mac version way back in 2003. (Do Empires next!)
Mutant Storm (Popular XBLA DSS, Published by Crescent Moon Games) Josh Presseisen from Crescent Moon Games has just announced today (@CM_Games) that they signed a contract to bring Mutant Storm to the iOS! Here's the tweet: https://twitter.com/cm_games/status/187231886114947073
Yep, they're working on so many games ATM! Ravensword 2, Aralon 2(?), Star Thief, City of Souls and now this!
Probably in a few months. Crescent Moon Games is working on a couple of games ATM, so I think it might be awhile. Plus, they just announced that they signed the contract, so I don't think Josh is working on it yet.
