Being a big point and click adventure fan, I must say MI is the best game to start for those who are new to the genre. It's simpler, it's funny, and it comes with the hint system in case you don't know what to do next. Broken Swords is the best game on the iPhone, even I, an avid MI fan, have to admit, but it's far more complex and takes more of your time than MI which is why I don't recommend to new players of the genre.
Beneath A Steel Sky and Flight of the Amazon Queen are both excellent ports of some great 90s point and click adventures. Steel Sky controls much better than Amazon Queen though.
