You'd be wrong. That percentage is based on all activated devices, quite easy to track, for example, by monitoring browser access among devices. I work directly with Apple and Amazon and I can tell you that for a fact.

Shame that I'm trying to read up on gameplay opinions and all I'm seeing are unrelated complaints.

  2. I agree with you. That is the main thing turning me off in this game is the always online. I do not want this trend to continue, so I will not be buying any inapps for this game cause of the online only.

Probably 18 out of 20 pages on not working on ios 6. Guess we're the lucky ones playing with joysticks...

I'm sorry to say this, but you're the one who "doesn't have the slightest clue about the OS you're using". Just like you can make a game with Retina graphics for devices with Retina support and make it non-Retina for devices without Retina support, you can add controller support for a game with iOS 7 and disable ir for iOS 6. Don't believe me? Bastion has controller support and it's iOS 5.1 compatible.

Also, the problem iOS 6 users have with the 0.2.0 version doesn't have anything to do with iOS 7. It's just a bug that could be easily fixed with an update. If the problem was with iOS 6-7, then when opening the menu for the controller options the app would indeed crash, but it doesn't.

My guess is that MF uploaded the 0.2.0 version first, but found about that issue before the release date. In order to keep the same release date, they went the easy way and instead of wasting some time to make it iOS 6 compatible they just fixed the bug and released the game making it iOS 7 only (or they thought that by making it iOS 7 only they would avoid the iPod 4 users rants, IDK), but now iTunes has both versions so iOS 6 users download the version with the game-breaking bug. As far as I know Apple has a problem right now that makes it impossible to revert to a previous iOS supported state, so once you make a game iOS 7 only you can't make it iOS 6 again. This is the same problem Chair had, and they said that are working with Apple to solve this issue, so probably we will see this game iOS 6 compatible "soon", but still I'd like to hear a word from MF saying if they contacted Apple or something.

Oddly enough, I'm one who did post an opinion on gameplay because I'm happily playing this on my Android device.

So I have no vested interest in the whole "argument". I really haven't "complained". All I've ever wanted was an answer for MadFinger on why iOS 7 has to be required. That's all.

Some people might be considered smart to wait to upgrade any OS based on how it can mess up compatibility with existing games or program functionality. And like I mentioned with Windows even, it would be suicide for a game dev to only be compatible with the latest version.

All I'm saying is that some people, whatever that number may be, have decided not to upgrade at this moment because of issues this it may cause. And we don't want to upgrade just to play one game.

I don't think it's unfair to just ask for an explaination as to why it's required. That's all I ever wanted.

...back to playing on my Nexus 7...

It is so amusing watching the apple apologists defend the insane crap they pull no matter how much of a pain in the ass it is to the developers and us poor users. BUT IT NEEDS IOS 7 FOR THE CONTROLLERS!!!

I guess the guys coding Bastion must be savants then.

    10 Is there a controller?
20 No? I guess you won't be playing with a controller.

This isn't Windows, lol, there is no need to worry about breaking everything. There is no reason not to upgrade, except for hanging on to a jailbreak.

Also we are on the 3rd version of iOS 7 now, how many more updates do you want before you believe it's "ready" to grace your device?

Stay up to date, don't lose hair over something so easy.

*PS I've been on iOS 7 since June, as have other developers, and any worth their salt have addressed any outstanding compatibility issues by now.

**PPS I've had NO apps that malfunction on iOS 7 since it came out of beta.

You must not play many games, there are still quite a few big titles that aren't even playable on iOS 7. I guess if the game gets yanked from the App Store completely (cough Chinatown Wars) it won't effect you.

iOS 7 is an eyesore, a joke, and it has severely damaged ALL apps related to sound and music editing. Some of these 'devs' are a one man show doing iOS stuff on the side, and don't have the time to respond to apple dropping nukes in their face. I mean, breaking compatibility for no reason? Really? And... For what? What exactly did iOS 7 bring to the table? Jiggly wallpapers and butt fugly icons?

iOS 6 destroyed the iPhone 4, and iOS 7 made Steve Jobs roll over in his grave. Yay, YOU don't have a problem with it. My iPad 3 is herky jerky and a mess now - gee, what a coincidence look they have new iPads out!

Oh, and to use Windows as an example of painless upgrading.... AAAHHAHAHAAAAA.....

Unfortunately, you're way off the mark. I don't even know where to begin. And since in not on my PC yet, I'll wait.

This thread is rather disappointing. 90% of people here are complaining it doesn't work on their beloved iOS 6.

The reason I'm running 7.3 right now is because I upgraded (crazy right?) but just a week ago I was running 6 on an iPhone 4. I would have come across this game, realized I could not play it on my device, and left without much of a word.

Instead, we have a bunch of forum members complaining about a game they can't play either because they refuse to update to an inevitable update, or because they simply don't have a device that can play it on.

Just move on and leave this forum to the actual game play and impressions of the game. Maybe start a thread in General Game Discussions about how upset you are that you can't play DT2?

Like another user said, it's quite a shame that this thread is clouded by people who aren't playing it than people who are and are leaving their impressions.

Side note: iOS 7 can effectively be used on 4s and above. I have read that iPhone 4, although can update to iOS 7, it is more of a hindrance on the device, slowing it down. Regarding DT 2, it's either upgrade time or enjoy one of the million other apps that the device can support.

As usual, you continue to bring common sense and maturity to TA.

Had written a response with a very, different tone, but I'll just say this, great post as always, and as usual I find myself a bit sad that TA ends up being overwhelmed by, "That's not an appropriate question" posts... Whatever.

Good luck to those who updated. Most people around me "in real life" haven't, and Googling iOS7 problems/issues gets you 3,000,000+ hits, so yeah, whatever. I'm obviously stupid/behind the times/whatever the latest insult is for not upgrading. Thanks for the information. Would still be nice to here from the developers.

Thanks, DBC, I always appreciate and respect your posts as well. I don't want to keep posting about the issue. I've resigned myself to the fact that it isn't getting anywhere, but I feel it definitely is still a relevant question and hope MF could at least address it.

Last Dead Trigger 2 version (0.2.1, only available for iOS 7) on iOS 6 with iOS 7 fake version through jailbreak -> works without problems.
Last King Of Fighters-i 2012 version (1.0.2, only available for iOS 7) on iOS 6 with iOS 7 fake version through jailbreak -> crashes at startup.
Last Infinity Blade III version (1.0.4, only available for iOS 7) on iOS 6 with iOS 7 fake version through jailbreak -> crashes at startup.

This, the fact that the version 0.2.0 of DT2 works, just with a bug with the second mission that doesn't have anything to do with the iOS 7 support, and the fact that there are already some apps updated with iOS 7 controller support that can still be downloaded on iOS 6 devices proves that the game CAN be played on iOS 6 and it doesn't have to be iOS 7 only, unlike the other two games.

Oh, okay! So the analogy is this:
Power to the developers and engineers, but not to the gamers = Power to the government, but not to the people

I see where you're going with this. Everyone should eat what they are fed, and no one should have a voice (particularly if it is negative criticism), because the product buyers and users really aren't that important to listen to in regard to development growth and product quality, right?

    WRONG.

Cheap, cheap, cheap. Don't 'nix' someone's negative criticism. If it possibly rings any truth (or something to look into), the intelligent thing to do would be to disagree and discuss your alternate conclusions.

I can't stand the perspective of "go find another forum". We have EVERY RIGHT to protect ourselves from and openly discuss what we think is undeveloped, buggy, sneaky or maybe just plain slick-selling (e.g. iOS 7, IAP's).

I am here to see what everyone is saying about any game I'm interested in(DT2). If anyone has something they want to complain about with this release, please do. I want to hear it!

What? Power to the developers and engineers? Where does the government come into this again?

Do you live in a bunker? You are seriously delusional.

This thread would ideally be filled with bug reports (if any) and game play impressions, not people complaining about iOS 7 and then you who is obviously quite delusional. No reason to get into this with you as I follow logic.

I'd just like to state what a gorgeous piece of software iOS 7 is. Everything from the way you can control multi-tasking to the beautiful icons and animations, they got it so very right in every aspect. Especially with 7.3. I look forward to staring at the screen of 7 for years to come.

Chinatown Wars is your BIG example? That came out in the 3GS era. I wrote Retinasizer to force retina rendering on it when the i4 came out.

That's like being sad that your fav SNES cartridge doesn't fit in your Wii U.
