We will have an advanced playable prototype for the end of june that will be shown at Rezzed game show. But not a finalized product. We don't have a precise release date but we are working hard to get the game finished this year.
Hi rcdeez and thanks for your interest! Actually, all the features announced are already implemented and functional in our game engine. This, plus a few unannounced. We are currently in the process of playtesting / balancing and creating all the contents (graphics and writing).
video The video looks interesting, but without gameplay its just a pretty slideshow. When can we see the gameplay??
Looks awesome I like the graphical style. Reminds me of my youth when I bought a Marvel Comic with a Silver Surfer Story in it. Btw, when you publish the game for Android, could you publish it on BB World for the Blackberry Playbook too? The conversion shouldn't be a great deal.
Every screenshot makes more and more impatient to see the game in action. I'm really curious about the balance between between narrative and exploration.
Hello Andsoitgoes, I am FibreTigre, half of the team that builds Out There. We love Star Control 2 and we aim to recreate some aspects of Star Control, such as managing / gathering ressources, exploring, meeting new races and of course playing with a general background story. However, the gameplay will be very different. There is no action at all, and no combat. You may suffer attacks from unknown ships during hand-crafted adventures or meeting unwelcoming civilisations, but you will not have any weapon to defend yourself. As we have said it in our previously press release, we are trying to design aliens that are very "aliens", i.e. not only alien looking things (think of HP Lovecraft's "the color out of space" for example) but also alien-thinking aliens. As a gameplay consequence there is no currency system, and interaction is limited and at first very difficult. If you have any other questions, we will be glad to answer. FT
Hoping to see much more coverage and possibly first gameplay footage now that the game was on display at Rezzed. One of the titles I'm looking forward the most this year, on every platform.
This looks amazing! I love the idea of unlockable storylines. I'm wondering how long you anticipate an individual playthrough to take. Starflight II is an old favorite of mine. One thing that was really compelling to me was poking around different planets, never knowing when you might stumble upon some crazy piece of alien technology.
Rezzed Report Hey, we just posted a report from Rezzed on IndieDB. You'll see some pictures of the game played on iPad. Link You can also download a mini "choose-your-own-adventure" based on the game that we printed for the show. Download PDF Enjoy!
