Class was cancelled today! Just picked up my 3 games at target, wound up getting MvsC, FIFA, an lumines. Now sitting in front of GameStop, in 10 minutes I'll be walking in with an Xbox and leaving with my new vita! [Edit] - Got it!
How do you like it? I LOVE Mine! Damn software update though! Ran to gamestop 4 times today. Was told it opened at 7 but they lied. Had to run back and get the correct starter kit... Oh man it was a mess
Initial impressions are much stronger then they were with the 3Ds. The screen is amazing and has nice touch response, haven't played a game yet, have to go to school for a bit then some serious game time after that. Excited to play lumines again, brings me back to 2004 when I got my launch day PSP and lumines! I made out pretty decent on my trades, it all came out to $260 in store credit, I bought a memory card and case so I spent about $25 of my own money. Had a gift card for target so essentially I got everything for $25! (sort of)

I was going to originally, but decided not to because almost every retailer is offering good deals on Vita games (like $10 off and B2G1). The deals beat the 10% discount on all PSN versions, so that's the main reason I'm not going to go digital only. If it was a $10 off discount rather than 10%, I might have stuck with the original plan, but that's probably not going to happen. What I'm going to do now is a mix- I'll buy some games physical, and some other games digital.
How does the screen compare to the iPhone 4/4S screen? I know the resolution and pixel density aren't quite as high as the iPhone, but how is the brightness and colors?
I can't really answer that, since the iPod Touch has a worse retina display than the iPhones, but compared to the screen on the iPod the colours are just much more vibrant on the Vita. To show what I mean: (the Vita is always on the left) Blacker blacks:
Well the nicest thing about the screen is the size. It's very comfortable for a portable console and easy to see from an arms length away. The colors really "pop" and coupled with the good touchscreen I'd say strictly from a gaming standpoint the vita is REALLY nice. Now for other tasks like web browsing you can really tell the difference between retina display vs the vita display. For this I would say the iPhone wins, the vitas resolution just doesn't work that great for small web text. Keep in mind I have only had about 15-20 minutes to actually use it so I'll have a better feel tonight when I get home.
Agreed. From what I've seen so far it's not very good at all, regarding how it looks in comparison to the retina display though there's quite a noticeable difference.
Thanks for the replies and the screenshot comparison. The colours do look more vibrant on the Vita. I imagine Uncharted: Golden Abyss looks great on the Vita's screen.
Ninja Gaiden is really fun! I suggest anyone who like action games or liked batman arkham city pick it up! probably one of the best launch titles!
