Hi all, I've recently gotten addicted to the genre of ridiculously hard on iphone and was hoping some more people could recommend some really hard games. To describe what I'm looking for, basically fairly simple, games that can be played in bursts, that take a ton of time to get really good at, and will take a LOT of gameplay before I finally delete the app. Examples: The Impossible Game- I love it because I've spent over 30 hours probably and I've beaten all but heaven. I play for about 5 minutes whenever I get the chance. Super Hexagon- Super hard and I've been having a lot of fun with it Pivvot- Also Super hard, and also has a great endless mode. Anyone recommend games with the simplicity of these games that are difficult/fun/addicting?
I have a "DontThrowiPad" folder with these in it. 774 Deaths Kid Tripp Polara Boson X Bitless Duet Space Is Key Project 88 Impossible Road Expander Attack of the Spooklings Deadly Bullet Run Roo Run Monkey Ninja Orborun 1800 Of course Super Hex and Pivvot's in that folder too.
Editing this post to use for a list for those who want to see the games mentioned so far throughout the thread So here is the comprehensive and growing list of the ass-kicking, white-knucke, throw-your-device-out-the-window experiences we love: --- Super Hexagon (of course) Canabalt 774 Deaths Kid Tripp Polara Boson X Bitless Duet Space Is Key Project 88 Impossible Road Expander Attack of the Spooklings Deadly Bullet Run Roo Run Monkey Ninja Orborun 1800 Pivvot Line Bound Octagon 14px Geometry Dash Beat Leap Commander Pixman Mos Speedrun Trap Adventure Orris Monotaur Brave Bit Impossible Missions Air Supply Infinite Brick Roll 1001 Attempts WingDot Don't Shoot Yourself! I would also add Mos Speedrun to that folder. Also, the Livid Dead levels in Rayman Jungle Run are awesomely annoying.

A lot of the games mentioned here are "hexlikes", a term coined by the Duet devs describing simple, difficult games like Super Hexagon and Pivvot. Here's a thread where you can find some more: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=207204
I randomly came across "Trap Adventure" when searching for a Spelunky clone. It's not like Spelunky, but it is a super fun, punishing (you have one life, and always start at the beginning) survival platformer a lot like I Wanna Be the Guy, with a bit of Mario and Super Meat boy thrown in. It's really fun and it's free so I'd highly recommend it.
Anything from Jeff Minter... anything. +1 on EP's mention of 774 Deaths. You will throw your phone across the room and then run over and get it to try again. I never cursed at my phone until I played that monster of a game.
I had avoided Duet because of all the SH co,parisons as well. Glad I decided to grab that too. I guess I love all the games in this new sub-genre besides the hero of it, SH. Octagon. Should I grab that too? Groove Vortex?
Definitely get this and Octagon(Octagon is my favorite in the genre). I wouldn't get groove vortex because it seems kinda sketchy
Octagon is like Boson X but without the controlled jumps and without the endlessness. Groove Vortex is 99% Super Hexagon, but Connector says it's not a clone. Both are great games IMO, but if Super Hexagon doesnt appeal to you, but Boson X does, skip Groove Vortex and get Octagon.
I was complaining about your negativity in great new Indies such as in the Groove Vortex thread and Don't Shoot Yourself thread. I said that multiple times. Of course it is clone like. But you were being derogatory. It just isn't right to such a great game. Same with Don't Shoot Yourself, I did not feel it right for you to bash the game so much. So I will say it one more time, reread the Groove Vortex thread from the start. All your initial comments were hugely negative just cause it was similar to Super Hexagon. That negativity just ain't right in my book. And yes, of course they are very similar, but you seemed to accuse it of being a rip off. And that is far from the truth, and that is a shame.
If one has ipad retina, Duet Game and Groove Vortex are must gets cause they are so pretty with so much polish. Octagon, Boson X, Pivvot are all great fun too. So grab both Octagon and Groove Vortex, they are both great fun. Would be curious to hear which you liked better.
Dood... I was describing the details of what i like or do not like in a game. They are FACTS. Some are opinions, but i do use "i think, i feel, or i believe" in my statements to suggest that. This is true in both my Groove Vortex and Don't Shoot Yourself comments. Reread it if you need to. And it's nice to hear from you that Groove Vortex is a clone.
That's the 3rd or 4th time you've accused EP of ''bashing'' Don't Shoot Yourself! and it's honestly starting to piss me off. Yeah, that sounds real brutal. Makes me wish that more games that I like got an EP bashing. Seriously though, stop it. It's called constructive criticism. You should be thanking EP for taking the time to provide feedback that could potentially help to make the game better. That's why I will always have the utmost respect for Touch Arcade members like EP, Appletini and others that take the time to provide so much helpful feedback on so many games; I know that I could never do what they do.
