PEOPLE OF TOUCHARCADE-ICA HEED MY CALL! Do you obviously believe this game will run on an Ipod Touch 2g?
enough of the 'on-rails' discussion, only the developers know if it's on-rails or normal FPS the article somehow suggests it's on-rails while the tech-demo shows it's not but neither of the two can be used to base our judgement, the article might be misleading and the tech-demo might just a demo as it is,without any interaction from carmack,so let's all just hope for a good game and a full game Rage next year
Why don't you just read Carmack's blog since that would give you more accurate information than just "people of Toucharcade". He clearly wrote that the 2nd gen iPod Touch is a testing target of his and that the engine is based off the Doom Resurrection engine using OpenGL ES 1.1 and compatible with the PowerVR MBX Lite, which is in first and second gen devices. Obviously things could change before release, but currently that seems to be the plan.
Well that will be tolerable if the hd version has gyroscope controls. Otherwise I will pass as I really didn't like the controls of Doom Ressurection.
It's really cool but there's a ton of people around here who have an irrational hatred for anything on rails, regardless of how well the game type works on the platform.
Mia Fey: OBJECTION! Phoenix Wright: OBJECTION! Miles Edworth: OBJECTION! Franziksa Von Karma: OBJECTION!
Gonna admit i was wrong but still, he never actually MENTIONED how the game would play out. So F you Mr.Ugly
how the hell you played it? you only got iPhone 2g w/ 1.X firmware LOL! anyway,i was already disappointed when carmack said it'll only be 0.99 coz that really means something the game could still be good, the graphics looks cool and i quite enjoyed doom ressurection. maybe the difference here is that you can look around while you're automatically moving but let's all face it,even if this game will be good for it's price, we all hyped up and expected something 'BIG' because of what we saw on the demo and what Rage on console is,maybe let's just hope someday they'll decide to make a full Rage for iDevice
Shit like this will happen until some known developer breaks out with a great game for around $20 and flips off the 99 cent rabble. Epic is my last hope (for 2010).
Its possible that its .99 for marketing reasons, like those 1$ stores, they make millions daily. So if theres a good game thats .99, and this game is well advertised on TV/websites, alot of people might buy this game for the low price, especially since theyre giving free updates with maps/equipment.
