Shadowgun just needed variety - more weapons and different looking environments. games like nova 2 and modern combat 2 were more fun because each stage you were taken someplace different and did a variety of things. I don't think the power of the devices is a problem - it's a matter of creativity.

Great game, still on last level on hard mode, need to get more into it :p
Since patch it barely ever crashes anymore on my iPad 1 and 3GS, same with my son's iPod touch 4G.

I don't get the complaints about lack of variety..I really like the level design...Everything is so nice and detailed too.
Really, overall, there is nothing quite like it on the appstore, no game gives you this playing experience.

I'm really hoping for multiplayer to expand the replay value.

There are a few things I would like to see added/changed:

    • Weapon swapping/reload like in Gameloft games (tap to reload, slide to swap weapon, allow changing weapon while moving).

    • Allow to rotate the view on the left part of the screen while the directional pad is active (as in, left thumb on directional pad, right thumb ready to press trigger, and left index finger able to precisely move the view

    • One or two more weapons (railgun is the one I really miss, plasma rifle would be nice too)

    Great game MadFinger :D

Does anyone know: If one gets the game (sort of) for free by sharing an account, would one belong to the 20% that didn't download a cracked version of the game?

Another way to make the game less repetetive is for example have levels where you drive a vehicle (like those bike levels in NOVA 2, they were pretty cool!).

I'd also like to see ssssllllooowwwwwmmmmmoooootttttiiiioooooonnnnn headshots! :p

Avoid his lasers by hiding behind the metal sheet on the top level. Don't push him down to ~50% right before a phase with mutants, or he will do lasers WHILE you're fighting them and you will probably die. Anticipate his attacks and pick up the ammo while he's chucking the grenades at you.

Most importantly though, anticipate the mutants and remember that on the left there is only one. Go down the left stairs while you're killing him to protect yourself from the two on the right. There's that cover on the bottom, use it to kill the left of the two mutants on the right, then rush the other one. By this point the boss will start chucking grenades, so get ammo as soon as you kill the mutant and go up to the top level to avoid his upcoming laser attack.

Oh, all that is assuming you know how to shoot the actual boss. If you don't, here it is:
Shoot the mouth once, getting ready for the stomach opening up. Don't reload at this stage, just unload the remaining clip into his stomach and then hide behind the top cover, while reloading. Swapping to a rocket launcher for the middle hit worked for me too, but you need to be VERY quick and eventually I just used the rifle.

Just wanted to say, I paid full price for this and I am loving it. Yes, the game play is not the deepest in the world, but it is done nicely. I have had one crash on my ipad2 and I am on the final boss, so it seems pretty polished. Looking forward to part 2 already.

my suggestions would be some kind of RPG like progression, light platforming/exploration (see darksiders), more secret areas ala the original doom, multiplayer, and more enemies. Suggestions aside, it is still a 5 star game in my book as this scratches the 3rd person action itch better than anything else in the mobile arena and is beautiful to boot.

Spoiler? Not sure if that counts. But yes, it took around 7 tries before I realized you could shoot the head to open up the stomach. LOL. It took another 3 tries after that to beat him. on Normal.

Heh, I'm not sure how that's a spoiler. By reading the post I quoted you can tell the rest is an explanation, so anyone caught out by spoiler...ness... only has themselves to blame. ;)

I've used that tactic on hard as well, and to be honest I haven't really seen the difference between the two. The main difference between normal and hard I found is that you get hit for more damage. Maybe I'm too good, but that didn't slow me down much. :p

I've read most of this thread and I like the look and sound of TDM. I'll probably be picking it up shortly.

Regarding the discussion about TA's reviews, with reference in particular to Shadowgun: guys, don't get so hung up on the opinion of a reviewer. Good or bad, right or wrong, a game review is the opinion of one person and is by its very nature subjective. Of course, you are free to agree or disagree with the reviewer, but there's no point getting frustrated with it all. The fact that TA thinks Shadowgun is a poor game is their opinion. I'm sure there are many, many owners of the game who would completely disagree with that sentiment. It doesn't mean TA are wrong and you all are right. Not at all. Everyone is right because it's your own opinion of a game that counts. If you like it, it's a good game to you. If you don't, then it's a bad game, to you. Simple as that.

When I purchase an iOS game that is on the high side of the pricing spectrum, this is the process I usually go through:

    - I check out several websites for reviews. TA, Pocket Gamer, TouchGen and App Spy are my usual haunts.
    - I ALWAYS visit the TA forum and try to read up on opinions from people who have purchased and played the game. Just to get a better idea of the general feeling people have about it.

Websites like this provide a way for people to read up on games before they part with any cash. I don't always agree with game reviews, but I always enjoy reading them and find them useful. So don't take reviews so seriously; take them for what they are, and that is the opinion of one person. There is not a single game in existence now or in the past, that everyone agrees is good. Or bad. No matter what the game, there will always be people who like it and people who don't. A review is just another opinion.

I have never based my decision to purchase a game on the strength of a single review and I never will do. Personally, I enjoy reading TA's reviews and whether I agree with them or not is neither here nor there; I find them useful and will continue to read them, as I will reviews from other sites.

    ^Agree with the above.

It was like that in the old days in the 80's when all you had were magazine reviews, no forum/youtube videos or that, just had reviews to look at and then decide whether to spend your hard earned pocket money.

A fair few reviews i didnt agree with back then and i came away enjoying a game which a magazine might have given 60% to.

Nowadays theres so many different sites/videos to view you can get quite a few opinions. Even if one website didnt like the game i'll look at another one or two and then decide whether to spend the 'huge' amount of £1.99 on the game etc ;)

But we're not going to agree with every single TA review. Lots of people here loved 1 bit Ninja, the reviews i read did seem to be more negative. But its just a review. We dont all like the same games. I never take reviews seriously, often they are a great guide or a 'preview' of the game i'm excited to potentially buy. But i've never got wound up with a review on a website i must admit.

Your loss, it really is a high quality game, perhaps sanuku should not post the whole game here( dont really see the point of posting a video of the whole, game maybe highlights but not the whole game). One of the truly special games for iOs imo, as it does exude quality. The shooting mechanics are well done and is just fun as hell to play.

Don`t worry Dude, as soon as the Multiplayer Update will hit the iTunes Store you will pay the $8 in no Time.

I wouldn`t worry about People not buying a Game just because someone did post a Walkthrough of a Game. Have you even checked out Youtube at least once in the last few Years?

There are literally Millions of Let`s Play or Walkthrough Videos for almost every Game and People love to watch other play through Video Games.
...And People still buy like Crazy Games after they have watched those Videos...

It`s similar to Pornos, if you can`t have Sex you will get a Porno Movie instead and watch other doing... well i guess you get the Idea behind it.

Let`s Play and Walkthrough Videos are the Pornos of the Video Game Industry and harming the sells in no Way.

Don`t forget that currently there is no Lite Version of Shadowgun out on the iTunes Store so there is no Way for someone who is still unsure about the Game to try it out.

So what would you tell someone instead to do?

Watch a one Minute Trailer instead like this:

Fine. But after we have seen what Telltale Games is doing with their Teaser Trailer ( showing Content that isn`t even in the Game and letting the Game run on an High End Mac instead on an iDevice so they make you believe that the Game run in 30/60 FPS while the Game is running as shitting as you would dream it in your Nightmares) i assure you that you should never ever trust a Teaser Trailer.

So what would you do instead? Search for a Video from a Review Site they sure won`t spoil to much?

There were None at that time. Only One Video were Online from a Review Site where Madfinger Gamers did tell us that they did break the NDA and had filmed the unfinished Pressversion with a shakky Handcamera. Yes it was the same Build that the Honks from ... did use for the Preview were they had leaked a few Minutes of Games before Madfingers Games did told them over Twitter that they should ready the NDA again and put the Video down.

    So coming to an End:

Instead of forcing everyone to wait till a Lite Version is out and/or even forcing anyone to pirate a Game just because there is no other Way to try it out they will find Walkthrough Videos through Google/Youtube. Honestly i don`t see how this could harm the Developer since i am doing what their Press Team should have done from the first Day...

Making People talk about the Game itself and it`s Content and not just about some Previews/Reviews you might care about or not...

Sanuku...your videos are awesome. You are really the only one out there doing detailed gameplay videos and it has certainly helped me out in deciding what to buy.

Don't really know why everyone thinks this game is so awesome. To me, the game is about going undercover, shoot, stop shooting, shoot, stop shooting, shoot, stop shooting, then finding better cover, and shoot, stop shooting, shoot, stop shooting.

I hate it how you can't aim around and shoot at the same time...

I kind of agree, but yes, you can aim and shoot. But the last boss is actually quit fun.
