I hope this game never comes out because there's no way it could live up to the hype, my imagination of what this game will be like is so perfect no reason to ruin it with the real thing. Spoiler This has been a test to see if reserve psychology works on iOS game developers
Introducing the Midorians Congrats to Brandon Bey for coming up with the winning name! He will receive MP3's of the game tracks well as a special thanks credit in the game. We have included a shot of the sexy Midorian females who you can discover and add to your own crew in the game. (It's not a space game without green chicks). Thanks all who submitted their own names. Cheers! -The Warballoon Team
Can anyone explain to me why this game will be so great? I haven't followed this thread until right now so I don't know much about this game yet.
Gladly. Do you like star trek? Do you like sci-fi? Do you like management games? If yes, you'll like Star Command. You basically build a starship, hire your crew, explore the universe, research new technologies and battle other species around the galaxy. Enemies can invade your ships and you can upgrade rooms, character and weapons. It's in an isometric view and takes a lot of influence from X-Com, Game Dev Story, the Sims and other greats. It's being developed by Warballoon and we're shooting for an end of the year release. It's not shovelware, it has depth and rewards you for taking a diplomatic approach on your ship, focusing on tactical or building an engineering specialized vessel. Every play through should (for the most part) be different so it has a lot of re-playability. Our number one goal is the "one more turn" mentality that makes Civ, Game Dev and games of that ilk so great. The Warballoon team loves the TA forums and we are on here daily, so if you have questions ask away.
Haha. That's a lot of features! Just read through the whole thread (Yep, all 29 pages ) And I loved GDS a ton, I played it sooo much! But, this sounds even more in-depth than GDS.
If Star Command is half as cool as X-Com was (is!), it'll be worth ten times the price of admission! And yes, that sounds a lot like a story problem. Math is hard. I'll be eagerly following this game here and on Twitter. Dave
Four posts back from yours... "It's being developed by Warballoon and we're shooting for an end of the year release."
Who wants to listen to some music? Warballoon is proud to announce we will be using Marius Masalar for our Star Command music. He has recently finished producing the theme song for the game, and we really love it. Want to hear it? OF COURSE YOU ####ING DO! Great ready for mystery, adventure, intrigue and alien STD's! http://soundcloud.com/mathazzar/skyward
Talk about a Star Trek-like theme?! Very nicely done, and a clever take on the movie music. --DotComCTO
