No problem. Also check out their forum because a lot of other gamers are probably asking some of the questions you have.

    Good luck!

P.S. once you really get the hang of it, it's a great experience. I restarted about 10 times lol.

Alright, alright. Almost 14,000 views, so there is interest in what I think is my new favorite game.

So I'm thinking that I should start a new thread that sort of interlinks the chimera forum with the Touch Arcade forum.

I'll relay any of you guys complaints or concerns to their forum. And I'll also post their answers and keep you all current with what going on in the game, development wise. I'll also try and answer questions to the best of my ability.

I'm doing this because I know people don't always like to manage multiple forum accounts. Also it's sometimes good to have a middle man.

All you guys viewing PLEASE GIVE YOUR OPINION!!!

Any tips at fighting off the metroid looking amoebas or what not? They always appear near my place early game and wipe out my scouts and colony ships lol.

I assume you're talking about the space marauder things that attack you when your'e exploring a new system?

I'm actually about to play, so I'll respond a little later.

There were amoeba things that look like metroids, and the other time I got my ass handed to with some blackhole blobby aliens lol.

Wish there was some kind of 'radar' feature, or something early on, Or give an alert early on or something for at least scouts.

Often times you'll run into aliens that will attack you. This is an expansion game and things like this happen, especially when your trying to rule the galaxy.

Alright, I don't know how far you are in the game, but I'll provide you with some things I've found to help me out through my progression. Albeit I'm not super far due to getting frustrated and starting a new game over and over lol. This is just how I figure games out.

Okay then, in the beginning of the game, I occasionally did get attacked by what I call space marauders. At this point you are to weak to do too much of anything, so you must avenge your fallen comrades a little later on in playing. -I also suggest you colonize the systems that are closest to you first because you will less likely be attacked. Don't be to over zealous when expanding.-

What I've been doing is expanding slowly, not too slowly, and industrializing like a muther. With your case, i suggest that you upgrade your military in order to fight off the space pirates. Here are some vague steps:
    1. Try increase your fighters strength before you go branching out.
    2. Once you think you've made some bad ass ships send out your scout. The purpose of your scout is to see what dangers lie ahead. In all honesty your scout is your radar. In life and in this game you must make sacrifices, your scout will probably die.
    3. now that you know the path of the "whatevers" send your fleet to attack them. Hopefully you will be victorious and then you will be able to progress.

    Also some more tips:

-If you feel like your workers are going to slow you can spend money to accelerate production.

-If you are far enough into the game where it might be the computer player attacking you send out spies. Spies are able to steal technology or sabotage enemies. In this case go for sabotage.

If you need anymore help or I didn't cover something, just ask.

    Good luck!

One little bug report - there seems to be a problem with the mute switch in the game. Muting when it loads work, but some of the events seem to ignore it completely and you suddenly get loud stirring music while waiting for the bus.

Oh, and truly awesome game, by the way, I used to buy any 4X game that came out back in the 90s before they just vanished and so far this seems to be one of the best! :)

    Please add diplomacy feature

Ok I picked up this game today and have been playing on my iPad 2 for hours now, so its a good sign if it has those Civ-like time holes where just hours disappear

I just got a serious problem with this game and that is the lack of diplomacy in this game. I cannot build an meet other factions and make peace or trade or war with them. There just out there like little blobs and constantly attacking each other and me. It feels like there just there to annoy me

I never played master of orion, but I love civilization games. Is it possible to at least have some basic diplomacy features like:

    - Meet other factions and deal with them in a separate screen and have a conversation.
    - Make peace with factions.
    - Make war to factions (well thats not needed because there pissed of at me already).
    - Make a deal with an other faction to go to war with another faction and split the booty.
    - Make trades with other factions for resources.
    - As a human one of the trademarks of the game is that they are great smugglers, I have not used that and I was hoping to get rich by smuggling items to factions that are illegal or bring profit.
    - Be able to see like a picture from you're galactic empire throne room or something overlooking an exotic world, to get an feel op even more scale and reward.

Anyway I don't mean to bitch but this would greatly enhance the game. I understand you're nearly a one man show so kudos and respect for that! I love you're game and would like to see more diplomacy to enhance an already great and addictive game!

Full Ack! Sounds very reasonable AND would make the Game more "complete"!

Diplomacy does add to the various versions of Civilization, but it's also easily exploited and quite hard to get right. I would just be careful that the gameplay doesn't become dominated by manipulating the diplomatic system.

This is probably the most crash prone game I've tried to play in a long time. I like it, I want to play it but I can't even take a turn in the current ranked match I'm playing. It just crashes to home.

There is an update submitted to Apple for Starbase Orion v1.0.3 that fixes this and many other user reported issues. I anticipate it will pass review and become available for download sometime next week.

May I know how long the sale will last ? I am quite new to this genre and I would like to pick up the game as soon as the new update is out so that I will have a smoother playing experience. ( I cant stop myself from playing a game as soon as I have it downloaded)

Also, I will be predominantly playing the single player mode/campaign so I am curious to know how long each playthrough will take to reach 'end game'.

I would say that depends on how good you are ;) I have been playing on game for over a two day period now! First time I played I was unaware of where the buy now buttons where so it took a bit longer that I would have liked to build projects on my planets, causing the enemy to get a bit ahead, and then spank me during a invasion!

I know this has been answered somewhere in this thread, but I cant find out how to buy a colonizer either. MOO vet here.

Second thing is what does mineral rich do? Maybe mines come later?

When you are on the planet build selection screen, in the first column "Special" drag the list box down to Colony ship it's under Economic Hoarding. I think the mining end of it is kinda of automatic.

You can't fight them off in the beginning because your ships are too weak. You can come back later when you are stronger but I never bothered to do so. Instead, I let my enemies waste their resources clearing the star system for me then I colonize (or invade) the star system shortly afterwards, spending minimal resources of my own.

By the way, you should never use your colony ships to explore because they die way too easily. In fact, I take advantage of enemy players who send out unescorted colony or troop ships by hunting them down with a scout ship that I can build quickly because it is only equipped with a single, cheap weapon.

Your starting ships seem able to "evade" the amoeba indefinitely, but I cant figure out if there is a way to actually retreat? Maybe I should have tried to scrap it from the fleets menu.
