You gain experience as you play for doing various things (killing stuff, completing objectives, etc). As you level up you gain access to new ships, and certain ships give you access to certain missions. There's also an element of challenge in the game, the possibility of turning on a "hard mode" to get better scores, better rewards and a much higher challenge level. Achievements have been designed to challenge the player as well, and take you off the beaten path with each ship. Some are harder to get and less obvious than others. An individual ship upgrade system will be available in the future and is very high on our to-do list (customize weapons, subsystems, looks, etc). However it's too early to talk about future plans, and we really want to show you guys what we're doing rather than promise stuff.
Well since there's no wing commander or a proper GOF 3 on IOS I'm buying tonight. I love space combat games. I do hope you guys add upgradable weapons and stuff for the ship ASAP Is there different types off weapons on the ships? Like missiles and such?
@TheGamerDude yes, each ship has its own weapons loadout. Every faction tends to favor certain weapon styles and combat approaches. And to answer your question yes, there are missiles and torpedoes. You just have to use those particular ships that have them equipped.
Sounds awesome! And, don't tell me you've actually added achievements with thought?! I do love me a hard achievement.
I'd love to tell you. But I can't find it in the Uk either. Tried all the tricks. Related games, the NZ link. Gah!
um yeah. sorry guys, I forgot to set it live in all of the countries. just did it, should be live shortly.... :s
Game Impressions Bought it and played it briefly on iPad 3. Seems to be a very simple game. From what I saw there's no campaign or story, you just start in space in a ship and shoot at waves of enemies until you die. Also, you get wingmen. They shoot the waves of enemies too. I think that's it. Seems alright if you just want to blow stuff up for 60 seconds. Frame rate was wobbly on my device but should be fine on newer. Deleted as it's not got enough meat on its bones for my taste.
@Guy Jackson well, our logic was to put a wave-based mission first to shield the player from failing objectives or dying to achieve them from the get go. Also, it's a good way to get to learn the game. The missions "Resource Hog", "Operation Twin Lance" and "Operation Lifeblood" are not wave based so you may want to check them out
