If so, it would distract me immense ! ...i guess Don't know what happend since Beta testing, but i have a bad feeling not being able to customize the buttons as an option.!? Devs ? Anyway an instabuy from me 'cos the game looks ultra hyper cool. Ehmm...has anyone seen a video yet ?
Thanks! : ) Tap left/Right is probably my favorite way to control racing games because it seems the most precise, so that totally works for me. Tilt can work surprisingly well in certain games too, though, so I'll probably give them all a try. Argggg hurry up Wednesday night!!
That is great news. Finally gonna buy a game this year (lot of apps but no games yet). This is first one that looks really interesting so far.
Not long to go, looking forward to the multiplayer. Nick - if this does well (no way it won't) can you guys think about doing a title like Screamer Rally! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screamer_Rally This is an area IOS is missing, TTR is more micro machinesgrown up, in a good way Screamer Rally was great, oh and if you do can i test Cheers Glen
Heroes and Castles has been my only game buy this year. I would check it out next time you're in the market for a good strategy game. Highly recommended.
Hi all, in answer to the questions....as many as I can remember anyway. The video should be going live today on ign.com/wireless about 3pm Pacific time. Hope you guys like it. The controls - we played with a number of options and even looked at configurable ones, but after boiling it down to this argument "You know how in arcade racing games you spend 99% of your time just holding the throttle button down, why don't we just ditch that, make it auto throttle and then make the sides of the screen the steering, keeping the view clear - and then just stick the weapons within the arc of the thumbs natural movement."....and you know what - it works rather well. This isn't GT/Forza so braking distances etc. are not a consideration, just as the speed creeps up - just throw it in a little earlier and let the slide take care of it The main thing Ive found is that hard steering loses you speed to good smooth racing lines will yield results. But it gets more and more technical as the speed creeps up. Can't wait to get it out there So exciting launching your first indie game. Thanks for your interest and support so far. Spread the word if you love it Nick
That all sounds good Nick. For a touch device, it certainly seems the best option. Someone mentioned tilt steering as an option as well, which is my preferred option on iOS racing games, so I think all bases are covered. You're touch steering does sound like an option that might suit better in relation to this particular game and lots of people seem to prefer tap to steer over tilt anyway so many are going to be very happy to read that. Sincerely the best of luck with it. The word is definitely being spread.
Well the tilt is good too. I think we could make it a little less sensitive in the "almost flat position" - just a minor tweak, but I found that at full speed when you need proper reactions times - the 60hz and touch is just the ticket
VIDEO HAS GONE LIVE (@half framerate of the actual game of course) http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/01/28/table-top-racing-launch-trailer MAKE SURE YOU SET IT TO 720P TOO default setting is poorer quality
After seeing the launch video, I'm looking forward to trying both control options, at 60. I mean, the trailer is half framerate of the game! I mean... What could anybody say. It could only be a fun game, looking at that. (Real nice coverage to get on IGN as well.)
