I doubt it. Of their most recent games, freemium has not been present. Iap has but not freemium. Nova 3, Asphalt 7, Shark Dash, Gangstar Rio, none freemium. Plus Spiderman is confirmed as not being freemium. It will have iap but will not be freemium. And yes MIB3 is freemium but that game is closer to FarmVille than to an action open world game that this is going to be. So I don't see any chance of this being freemium. I think Gameloft learned their lesson for their big title games.
I highly doubt that this will be freemium, besides if spidey ain't going free no way the bat will take that
Let me be more clear since I confused the terms. The game will be free to play, but there will be in app purchases.
I don't think so, because freemium model doesn't fit in games like this. Is totally different to make farming games or wave based rpgs free with cash or energy iaps, than to make this way, open world action games... I think Six Gun was an experiment for GL and didn't work that well. Imo Batman will be premium with iaps for accessories and armor like NOVA, MC, Gangstar etc.
I say it'll be kinda like gangstar rio. The entire game is playable for free after you buy it. Then there will be ways to earn money in-game (i.e: missions, kills, ect,) but you will be able to buy large amounts of coins that would have taken a while to earn in-game. Then, there will be some purchasable items/upgrades. Some will be moderately priced, while the others may be priced higher, yet may have a little feature/easter egg. Then, since it's batman, there might be skins for batman or different editions of the bat-mobile. This seems like the direction Gameloft is heading with most of their major titles.

Yup. It would be silly of them to make them freemium when they could charge full price then possibly sell other things with IAP. I mean, a game licensed by a popular super hero would still sell very well either way.
Why? It could very well turn out to be a catastrophic disaster with poor stealth, repetitive combat, and terrible voice acting. These are all problems that have plagued Gameloft's titles for ages.
