Yeah, but the UE3 needs people to make the graphics good. Not the engine itself. The UE3 doesn`t automatically provide amazing graphics, you need people to make them. The engine just makes it easier.
I just hope it won't be like another regular app in the app store, where it gets fun for a few days then after that it gets boring. Hope players can build cities and entire empires, without the need for resources.
We now have reflections: On iPad2 at least... They do work on older devices but not at full resolution. It would be perfectly possible to allow iPhone4 users to select 480x320 with iPad2 level shaders and special effects like the reflections above or 960x640 with simpler shaders and no reflections. The problem is, I think that choice might be a little hard to explain in an options menu and people seem very attached to retina resolution. For this reason the option may well not go in simply to avoid confusion.
The reflections look damn good so I'm sitting on the fence for this one. I'm sure Retina display support would look amazing too and maybe we might not notice the lack of reflections?
Don't worry, it will have a whole load of optimisations for iPad2 (and iPhone5), the reflections are just the first.
But do not forget the 4rth gen: we dont want to have next to nothing because you optimized to well the 5th gen

Umm cool story bro do you mind spamming a different thead? Anyways nice Glenn! How many different types of animals are there? And does the game employ a bit of Charles darwins evolution theory? Say if you had two islands on your world and they had different environments would different animals form? And are they able to adapt to a changing landscape and to predators? And a bit of survival of the fittest so those blue herd animals are able to evolve with say antlers thereby not being so vulnerable to the current type of predator?
