I probably need to pick up Hoplite, but sadly there isn't anything I was interested in this week, and I usually buy a few games every week! Good luck to whatever game wins!
Thank you for the monitoring; my interpretation is that Hoplite was releases on December 21 (a Saturday) so not eligible for consideration in the previous poll (which had a December 20 cut off). From original post rules "Releases active before Saturday are eligible, weekend releases can be nominated the following poll." It may be I'm overlooking something but I think this is Hoplite's first chance for formal consideration. There are a few December games that fall into this "no man's land" of no other GOTW consideration but here due to App Store shutdown the subsequent week. This is a list of all nominations from the most previous December 19 GOTW poll: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=3081043&postcount=49
Would a moderator please change the title of this thread to "Best iOS Game Of the Year 2014 (So Far)"?
Here is the outcome of nominations: Sonic Transformed 9 Jet Car Stunts 8 Endless Nights RPG 4 Feed Me Oil 4 Hoplite 4 Detective Grimoire 2 Endless Barrage 2 Lemon Joe 2 Martain Run 2 Usagiman 2 ------------------Top 10------------------ Lyne Robot Thief Sugar Roll Colors Manyland
I voted Hoplite. I love how quickly I can get into a turn based hex game that offers difficulty and tactical play. Super polished. It goes to show a great game doesn't need to be full of features and mechanics or even bleeding edge graphics. Execution is key, and with Hoplite execution is nearly flawless. Great game play and value at $2.
