Well, after defeating each boss, you go to the next world and get a new ability. So each world has different graphics, different enemies, a different boss of course, but also different gameplay since the new abilities affect how you play.
There wont be any immediate powerups like mario's star power, at least not yet.

This is looking great I can't wait to play it, I'm definitely going to have to dig up my old gameboy and play some while waiting for this one! How many different worlds and bosses are planned so far?

Yeah exactly. There will be 5 worlds, each with 5 levels and a boss fight.
I uploaded a screenshot of another boss, called 'the grotesque'. The graphics for it got a bit dirty with all my format changes, so I am planning to clean it up a bit. It is the biggest, but not the baddest, boss in the game.

hehe, that word is music to my ears. Thanks so much

By the way, I just added a Mac demo on indiedb, so please check it out.
And dont forget to check out my indiegogo campaign. It hasn't gotten a lot of love yet, but I'm hoping that will change soon.
    Cheers

If I could pay you in iTunes credits for the campaign, I would.

Dang, now I wish I had a Mac!

This game looks awesome and beautifully nostalgic! :) Loving the artwork.

If you ever find yourself in a shortage of beta testers (inconcievable!), I'd be more than happy to help.

Good luck on your game, hope to see it in the App Store soon!

Looks great! And thanks for the iCade support!

A minor thought for what it’s worth... The “snake” boss segments (below) look like they get rotated “off grid” as the snake turns, so the pixels aren’t “real retro pixels” anymore. Maybe a cleaner retro look would be to not rotate the snake segments? (That has bothered me in some other retro style games when the pixels go diagonal.) Maybe the head has to rotate unavoidably, but the rest of the body pieces don’t? (Or this may not even be noticeable in motion at all!)

Hehe, no problem. Actually, I quite like the look "off grid" blocky sprites. You see it quite a lot in games made with flixel. It's kind of like old meets new.
But yes, it's not right for a game like this, so I took that particular boss out a while ago.
I have three bosses finished, but there are two more who are just ideas at this stage. I'm open to suggestions...

I'm on Test Flight, let me know if you want your game tested on a 3GS. Otherwise I'll just keep waiting patiently! Arigato Gozaimashita!

I forget, is there a reason you can't use Kickstarter itself? :)
