This is one of the few things I didn't get to play as a child, so there's no real nostalgia as such... but I'm a retro nut nevertheless and the sheer passion that's gone into honoring these games through this app makes me feel good inside. I'm gonna have to buy it for that alone.

Don't get me wrong, I love the overlays -- I just like options. I don't suppose you allow for "wrong" overlays do you? One thing I liked about MESS was the ability to play a game with a different game's overlay. Silly, but would occasionally produce an interesting look. If not currently supported, please consider it a feature request for the future.
This whole thing kind of has a full circle feel to it. I recall that some former GCE people were shopping around the idea of a handheld Vectrex back in the late 80s, but the release of the Gameboy was the nail in the coffin.
